No surprise really. Workhorses rather than fancy dans has always been the England preference. Stan Bowles and Alan Hudson barely got a handful.

My point eggzackly! Hey, UFCM are in same league as Boston again next season! :D

Awaydays with FCUM are a bit like away games with the reds in the 70's raucous and a bit drunken and edgy. I'm too old for that malarkey!

HAHA!! Me too, I sit in the main stand at Boston, with all the other old gits. Except in winter..in winter I stay at home.

The Westboro Baptist Church, the hater of all things, has been protesting the Ivory Coast. Why you ask? Well, after Ireland's vote, they decided to protest with some wonderful "fag flag" posters, but these scumbags printed the flags backwards, thus earning the undying hatred of Ivory Coasters everywhere!!

After many weeks of scratching my head. Today I managed to work out how to cancel the alarm on my phone.

They don't half make things complicated these days.

Today i learned that the Paul McCartney & Wings song "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" was written & recorded two days after the Bloody Sunday massacre.

I also learned that Henry McCullough played guitar in Wings for a while (this song, Wings' first single, was his first recording with the group).

Yes indeed. Though I have to admit finding it vaguely, erm, erm...

Today I also learned that we have asbestos in our ceiling, which will need removing, and we may have to move out of the house for a while. Bastard landlords.

Well, erm... yes. Indeed, very much so. Whereas my own father turns 73 next month as well, and his youngest is turning, erm, 43 (his youngest GRANDCHILD is 8, fer cryin' out loud...)

Hey, if he's having it removed, he can't be THAT bad! Our bastard landlord just had the roof re-done, and now we shouldn't leak any more, which will be a nice change. Now if he would just sort the electrics i'd maybe stop calling him "Bastard"...

Ah, well, thing is, they (rather than "he", the house we've been renting for the past 20+ years is owned by a large landlordy corporate thing), have neglected the upkeep of their property for years, preferring just to take the rent. The ceiling in question had a bloody big hole made in it months ago, by one of their contractors, to drain off water following a leak that was due to their failure to maintain the heating system. The landlords' workman who finally, months later, came to repair it yesterday refused to do so because he was aware of a report that there was asbestos present, information to which the landlords had access for years. This was the third breakage in that ceiling in the last five years. The landlords knew all this but have not informed us, as tenants. So we have potentially been breathing in asbestos dust all through that time. Bastard landlords.

Ha. Reminds me of a couple of years ago when my landlord decided to fix the roof himself after we had given notice that we were moving out. It was not leaking at the time. So he was out there by himself every morning dressed in nothing but daisy dukes and tool belt at 6:30 AM pounding on the roof for 10 days. Bastard.

Reading a book about Neil Young, i learned that during his time in Toronto, he played rhythm folk guitar in an R&B/funk band called The Mynah Birds, fronted by a young Rick James?!

They scored a recording contract with Motown, but recording was interrupted when James was arrested for being a draft dodger. Neil & band mate Bruce Palmer hawked the gear for money to get themselves to Los Angeles in search of Stephen Stills, with whom they founded Buffalo Springfield.
