I'm nearly certain there's an interesting story behind this learned thing. I'm afraid to ask for details though.

Well i'm assuming FH is referring to Frances' Madonna post. If not, I definitely want to know what the story is

There was an entertaining moment of confusion in this household on the morning after the Brits event. No one here had watched it (you'd have to pay me considerable amounts of money to make me watch it). But middle daughter's line manager (Donna)'s bf had got them tickets (bf works in PR or some similarly carp job). When she got some garbled message about m'Donna having falling down the stairs at the Brits she leapt to all the wrong conclusions...

Anyway, my own personal experience of cape wearing is restricted to having done so once, many, many years ago. (I was a student. It was a party. You know how it goes.) Girlfriend at the time insisted on having a turn at wearing said cape, and got so excited when she did so that she was jumping around and nutted me really hard in the ear. Which I've always vaguely blamed for the beginning of the tinnitus that afflicts me from time to time. So the observation sort of stands, either way.

Oh, right, the m'Donna incident.

The BBC news podcost was all aflutter about that. I have seen no images (or videos) of the incident and was sadly unaware that a cape of any sort was involved.

So yeah, that makes sense. Floor-length capes and stairs? Bad idea. They also don't go well with rotating doors or with escalators. Elevators too. There's your free tip of the day.

Apparently there's some big debate on the intertubes today about what colour m'Donna's cape was. Mme firehazard sees it as brown and lilac.

If your'e going to have an accident that means you may need urgent attention from a surgeon, having your accident on a golf course is a pretty neat idea.

The Thing I learned on Monday - It is difficult to write a 200 word essay about yourself and keep it to 200 words.

The Thing I learned Today (that I had forgotten) - Reading magazines and newspapers in printed form is much much better than squinting to read little snippets out of them online.

I have always found that writing the first ten words and then stopping at the correct final words (wherever they're supposed to be) to be the two hardest things about writing.

No inertia quickly becomes ALL THE INERTIA!

Well, you did fine that time. Or was that just your whole Friday's work writing that?

That was two hours of editing to get it back down to size.

Vote early, vote often, and don't vote Tory. Or UKIP. Or any of those baxtards.

(Actually I learned all that a while ago.)

This week I learned that no matter how carefully you plan things, they usually take longer than you estimated that they would.

In the most telling political comment on the events of the night so far, our cat just wiped its arse on the carpet.

Today I have learned that the British public are a bunch of closet Tories who do not give a **** about anything. Will be packing my bags for foreign climbs methinks.
