(I just bumped into these guys - almost literally. I was in the bar at the local venue at lunchtime, and in they walked. They're playing there tonight.)

Nice one firehazard :)

The Specials were a brilliant band, Irishman. Always liked them, always regret not having seen them.

Oysterband: Bells Of Rhymney

Me too. You hear about CBGB's closing? A shame....

Yep. And that's somewhere I missed out on, Irishman. The sad thing about the Specials is that I could have seen them, but just didn't do it.:(
Still, you learn from your mistakes.

Yeah! I especially love it when the singer is drunk as hell like Shane on St. Paddy's Day. haha

Doctor Clayton: "Honey Stealin' Blues"/ "On the Killing Floor"

Latest 78 acquisition - despite being deep into blues for nigh unto 30 year, I had never heard of the Doctor until recently. This is my third 78 of his. I believe it's from the early 40s.

Besides his usual sideman Sunnyland Slim (aka "Dr. Clayton's Buddy"), the Doc hired a tuba player for this session. The bassline is played on a tuba, and there's a tuba break on each side.

I like that song - used to be a regular visitor to Ibiza years ago, loved it. I won a trip there this year playing poker and took my mate, we thought we'd be a couple of sad 30somethings surrounded by kids but it was great. There are loads of people our age still out there partying hard. Bora Bora on the beach at 6am as the sun comes up. Fantastic.
