The internet tells me I saw Jones on June 5, 1985 at SDSU.
I remember running into an acquaintance after the show who was totally fanboying out, had met the beast, got autographs, etc. and I was all... calm the fuck down. Nothing to get excited about.
People were throwing puzzle pieces around during the line about puzzle pieces not fitting.
The days of handing 4 packs of California Coolers to strangers in line at 7-11 near campus and slamming them in the Burger King bathroom (when Boone’s Farm wasn’t available).

I had a friend in middle school (Grade 7/8, so 12/13 years old) who LOVED Howard Jones, even kinda looked like him and definitely had a copycat haircut (making him one of the few 12 year olds with a hair style). Most people at that school were total dicks, and Dan was lovely and real, and so I've always had a soft spot for Mr. Jones and his positive vibe.
