It would have been doubly confusing since you'd think Mr. Drury would know those lyrics weren't right. And also would be crowded.
Well yes, but he'd probably quickly learn that disagreeing with the hazardettes when they're united on anything is a serious mistake. So he'd work out that it's better simply to go along with it and reinterpret his own song.
Fortunately they usually got the words of Pogues songs right. Their version of Bottle of Smoke was particularly memorable.
