LOVE The Beatles - George & Giles Martin

"Blackbird/Yesterday/Strawberry Fields Forever/Within You, Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows" sequence

If it's a little disingenuous to pretend that this is what Ringo would have done at this point, just because Pro-Tools makes that possible to hear, it must also be conceded that Martin per et fils never claim their Las Vegas/Cirque du Soleil to be anything other than a bit of a lark, a personal mash up. No doubt greater crimes will be perpetrated on the Fabs' mastertapes over the next several centuries in the name of Art. But LOVE is a shame because it all at once shocking and disappointingly conservative and tasteful.

Long May You Run - Neil Young

Neil said he wrote the song for his first car and his last girlfriend. Today, it's for Mr. C.

It even has a not-so-tongue-in-cheek reference to the Beach Boys, which always reminded me of House of the Gods.

Is it good then? They're headlining Main Stage on one of the nights at the Cambridge Folk Festival this year, and I'd sort of decided already that I'd head off to one of the other stages... Though it's far too early to decide such things really.

Blackbeard's Tea Party: Whip Jamboree.

Though it's a bit early in the morning for that kind of thing. And I should be listening to the Ramones.

Well, "Born To Be Blue" is the greatest Roy Orbison song never written, so I would want to see them play that if I found myself trapped in a field in Cambridge.

Thanks, Mr C. Given the way the weather's tending this summer, will need more than the hot spiced cider with a tot of brandy to warm us up while sitting in any field round these parts.

I may have to rethink my prospective viewing plans. Though if (as may be) Le Vent Du Nord are on another stage at the same time, it'll be back to Plan A.
