I accept payment in beer. So that's probably about a teaspoonful of beer you owe me.

Grinderman: Worm Tamer

Beer is a fine currency. The world would not be in the mess in which it currently finds itself if the bastard bankers were only allowed to take their bonuses in beer but I'm struggling to find a way to send a teaspoonful of Jennings Cumberland Ale over the innertube, I hope you're not thirsty.

I am listening to a version of Dean Parrish's I'm On My Way played on the pipe organ by a bloke called Andrew Macintosh. Now if churches had music like this, no-one would have to die to get me to go in one.

Now if you could only do that you would earn a fortune... and the undying gratitude of beer-lovers everywhere. Proper beer only, of course.

Gregory Isaacs: Night Nurse. Now with the great night nurse in the sky. RIP.

"Ironmasters" - The Men They Couldn't Hang

In the Oscar Wilde pub on Berlin's Friedrichstrasse.

Earlier, I heard Christy Moore's "Faithful Departed"

A pub mix tape [cd] of exceptionally good taste.

I had not heard about "Cool Ruler" until I read this post. Night Nurse is one of my favorite LPs. RIP Brother Gregory.

Have you heard Dead Can Dance (well, more to the point, Lisa Gerrad solo vocal) do "The Wind.." ? Lovely.

Nah, David Bowie's "Even a Fool Learns to Love" [the original English lyrics of "Comme d'habitude", before Paul Anka grabbed the rights] is better, especially after he nicked the chords, rewrote the tune a bit, and added new words, calling it "Life On Mars?" I have the demo and I must say the rewrite was a great improvement.

i love "life on mars?" i didn't know it was a rewrite. "even a fool learns to love" is great, too. different. i'd never heard it before. it's pretty deep. too deep for me right now, though. the pistols' version has great sentimental value and relevance so it'll be the best until it isn't "useful" any more. if that makes sense.
