It's set me on a search for Essex songs. The land of my youth. Currently a nice song featuring Plaistow.
Thanet isn't in Essex, of course. It's over the river, in K*nt.

Does Billy Bragg first band Riff Raff with songs Romford Girls or A13 hit the spot , geograhy not my strong point.
