What’s that?

That 1 or 2" rope hanging from the ceiling in Physical Education classes that the kids were made to climb.

The rope still beat ballroom dancing (for us shy boys, at least).

It occurs to me that I should clarify - 1" or 2" in diameter, NOT in length. :)

I swear we only had one hanging from the ceiling but I did go to the rare ghetto elementary school in a good district.

Freaking nightmare. The rope. Not the school.

I had a Symbolic Logic professor who was a ballroom dance fanatic. WTF.
That guy.
And he was a total prick. Obviously.

1 or 2" was about as far up the bloody thing as I could ever get. The PE teacher's preferred means of "encouragement to do better" was hitting you with a wooden coat hanger. Baxtard.

You'll be pleased to know (without my influences) my daughter loves all those songs. She plays guitar and sings them all.

And that rope......... I'm also old enough to remember getting hit on the top of the head with the end of it by the bully P.E. teacher.... Bastard :x

Awesome. I took guitar class in college with a friend. Unfortunately, while I managed to play Kumbaya for the professor, instead of memorizing the cords I memorized every single finger change, if that makes any sense. My brain couldn’t wrap itself around learning ten things, so learned a hundred instead.

That was the day I said fuck it.

I actually used to get in trouble for bullying the teachers, like flipping one perv off when he was dj’ing (and couldn’t do anything about it) and writing something crazy in my teacher’s yearbook who used to inappropriately compliment my appearance (in front of the class) every single day. (The perv teachers didn’t hide it so well back in the day, did they?) In other words, I was a psycho kid. You just have to wait for your chance.

Parentless childhood is soooo much more exciting.
