A place to discuss largely non-Pogues related things.

Oh I didn't catch that! Indeed it's a chevron guitar strap! And I think you do need one for your ukulele. :)

I too need a uke strap. And I now know which one I'm looking for.

I remember travelling down the M11 on the way to Brixton one December. "What are those weird white marks on the road?" said one of our fellow passengers, somewhat drunkenly. "They're telling you to keep your distance," said I, "They're called chevrons." "Follow the chevrons to see the Pogues! Yeah!" said our friend. It seemed funny at the time. And I know I'll remember it on the way down same motorway this year.

Just been relistening to the live Brixton gig on disc 2 of The Ultimate Collection. With a lovely Thousands from one so dearly missed.

Ha, i thought of something similar recently. I was riding my motorbike over from Ireland to the MotoGP at Silverstone and on the M1 there were the same markings on the road. The sign said "Keep two chevrons apart" i smiled to myself wondering how do they know if he doesn't get on with his relations

Currently, Marianne Faithful The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan is on replay. I only heard this for the first time last week when a friend sang it at a session and all i could remember was something about her being "37 years old in Paris". Youtube is indispensable......

Was having exactly the same thought yesterday travelling on the M11. The sign reminded me how there were two of our three girls that you could never leave in the same room when they were small, as there'd always be a big fight. Mind you, it's still a bit like that with my sis and me. And we're old enough to know better.

Gorgeous song. It's always tended to bring a tear to my eye.

1962 : Ron Hynes, great news about Ron back on the road. The first show is tonight in Charlottetown PEI as part of the Vinyl Cafe Winter Tour. The Newfoundland Tour begins in Clarenville on November 1 and i'll be there! Very sad about Philip Chevron,my heart goes out to his family. The Pogues are very popular in Atlantic Canada, would love to see them perform here, only got to see them once, Berlin 2010.

Urge For Going - Tom Rush, from the 1968 LP 'The Circle Game' [thanks Dad!] there is a line in this beautiful Joni Mitchell composition which goes 'see the geese in chevron flight'. Miss Mitchell, one of the best!

"Windy" The Association

My wife and I have been binge-watching Breaking Bad from the beginning as we've only just discovered it. We caught the episode featuring this song over the weekend and have been obsessed ever since.

Always dug "Crazy Train" as a country song, it's like it was meant to be:
