HA now I know your jestin' Fay.... According to some page I searched it says they openned both nights. took me about a half hour of searching to find it. I swear my gut still hurts. I hardly slept last night I'm so miffed.

I truly believe Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul opened one of the two shows.

I'm searching but no luck.
I do like that philosophy bookish!
I hope you're right FAY, Then again I need to hope it was the night I was there!

Steven Van Zandt opened for U2 at MSG on September 28.
The Pogues opened for U2 at MSG on September 29.

You have lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. Of course I didn't remember the exact date but I remember it was the first night as my B-day is the 25th.
I remember she bought the tickets closet to that date. So that would mean I was at the 28th show. I remember we ate at a restaurant up on 3rd Ave owned by a former NY Mets baseball player before the show, partially being the reason we missed the opener. Thank you for putting my mind at ease FAY, you are a dear!

I failed an interview to work at waterstones. Think it was because when asked what book I would reccomend for someone on a train I said Borstal Boy.

I'm from Rockland County. Now I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I don't know Little Steven, but I did stand beside him and made small talk with him while we were both waiting to be served drinks 3 or 4 years ago at one of my favorite NYC bars, Manitoba's. (Owned by Handsome Dick Manitoba, frontman of one of my other favorite bands, The Dictators.) I'm a Yankee's fan. I saw the 29th show; specifically, for the Pogues. This is the setlist from that show:

The Irish Rover
Streams of Whiskey
Battle March Medley
The Body of an American
If I Should Fall From Grace With God
Lullaby of London
Dirty Old Town
Turkish Song of the Damned
South Australia
Sick Bed of Cuchulainn
Dark Streets of London
Sally Maclenanne

Sleep well tonight and be thankful for having such a seemingly great wife who treated you to a night of ribs and U2 all those years ago!

Absolutely, She's the best, my love and my life. Our 21st anniversary was spent at the shows this past March.
I saw Little Steve on his own a few times once at the Stone Pony I think it might have been in 87 for all I know. If I remember correctly it was billed as Labamba and the Hubcaps with friends. Local band you probably heard of. They weren't long off the Born in the USA tour. So I guess they didn't want problems at the door. I know Manitoba's too! Great place. Congrats on the Yanks WS win. Lesser of two evils for me. :|
Either you catalog well or have a photographic memory. I can't remember the set list off the top of my head from Bruce last month or The Pogues last March much less a show 20+ years ago. Thanks again. Nothing left to moan about for me for the moment.......

Could have also been that lime green sock hat you wore. You should have suggested, Subway by Bruce Davidson. Hope you get an interesting interview soon.

Green hat ??!!? I dont get the reference at all. I just had to think on the spot and, you know borstal boy is easy to read. I think whst they wanted was an arse-licking customer pleaser who would reccomend one of the shitty simple minded rubbish they sell at the front of the shop, 'fifty people who ruined britain" and so forth.

Alternatively, you could have given them the correct answer, which I supplied above, though on the off chance that it might have been greeted with a blank stare, consider yourself better off out of it.

I wasn't ignoring your sound advice, Philip. I wasn't sure whether you ment the importance of being earnest or literally my diary. It would have been useful to have you feeding me the answers through some kind of hidden headset, like in Cyrano de Bergerac or even like in the movie 'Roxanne.'

Surely you meant "like in Cyrano de Bergerac"? Or even "like in the movie Roxanne"?
