*sigh*

It's the eve of the first day of March. Something is amiss...there should be bunches of tickets pinned to my 'fridge with magnets...train tickets down to NYC, and some for the T up to Boston...golden tickets to see the boys at Roseland, or the Orpheum, perhaps a pass that promises the possibility of an aftershow meeting...

It's been an awfully sucky Winter - I will surely miss the release that only a Pogues show can bring.

Ah well, look on the bright side, it's now the first day of March and at least it's not raining (in Liverpool anyway)

First day of March, not raining (it's stopped here now), no Pogues gigs in sight... something is most definitely wrong with the world.

Well, in it's wisdom, BC Housing has decided that - since our neighbourhood has gentrified - they will increase rent by 39.7% on July 1st, putting our co-op in the top $ tier of co-ops in the city, this in a neighbourhood where my daughters still can't really stand at a bus stop without a chaperon, and where noise from cool hipsters at their new bars keeps us at at night. So yeah, looks like we'll be moving... Goddamn, is anybody but rich people even ALLOWED to live in Vancouver anymore?

Figured this would be the best thread to post this. For all who saw the Pogues (and anyone else, for that matter) in NYC's Roseland Ballroom: http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20140827/midtown/video-roseland-ballroom-being-gutted-make-way-for-apartment-tower

Sad sad day. On top of that can you imagine what they'll charge for one of these apartments?.... ugh

They seem to be doing this everywhere. Not far from the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool they accidentally knocked down a listed building (don't ask) and now they're building student apartments there which when finished will not go with the buildings currently in the street.

There are some sick f'n people in this world. The people involved with this deserve a serious beating. My son has autism and my stomach is sick from watching this.

I can't look at it.
Those maladjusted little monsters.

I hope the young mans health withstood the disgusting attack.

I work with our youngest, severe special needs students and get to see their growth and increased communication over time.
It's an amazing thing.
The affectionate interest typical peers give our students is very sweet and genuine.

So there's that. :)

Nice words Frances. I didn't pass the link onto my wife. Luckily, the majority of kids are great and are obviously raised right.

Week 2 of Fantasy Football isn't even over yet and I have basically lost all my Running Backs. It would be helpful if the Police/NFL would get their act together and indict criminals before the Draft takes place! Took Adrian Peterson with my #1 Pick, only to find out he thinks it is 1930 and it is okay to whip a 4 year old until he bleeds. Bad enough, but considering that another child that he was the biological father was killed by his step-father you think he would be a bit more sensitive??

Is Putin trying to take over the Raft? Lots of Russian (or at least Cyrillic) posts today.

He may not be using his real name...
