Well in the end it was $872, but Molly's on the mend, and while she doesn't like the antibiotic pills i have to give her every day, she seems to enjoy the liquid opiate, batting at strings that aren't there, etc (seriously, it's super-goofy cute).

We unsealed the credit card for the occasion. You never think you'll be one of those people who spend $1000 on a pet until it happens to you....

Hah! Well, she had her last dose last night, and watched "Maximum Overdrive" with me. Seriously, she was enraptured with the TV for the first time in her life. Well, for about 15 min anyway, which was longer than the film gripped me for!

We had a cat once (there have been several other cats since) who used to ignore the telly completely unless the snooker was on. And then she tried to catch the balls on the screen. She was a great cat, sadly missed.

Ugh, we traveled from Vancouver to Victoria, not far but a pricy 2-way ferry ride with the van and 5 of us, to visit with family and so the kids could put on a wee concert at their great-granddad's home. But one by one we all fell to a terrible gastro-intestinal flu and basically spent the whole time puking and recovering, and we not of course going to go within a mile of the old folk's home lest we kill everybody!

Recovered just in time to come home.

I WISH I was moving! Been in a tiny bedsit for 25 months..on the shittest housing estate in town..called 'Fenside' but commonly known as 'chinatown'...
No chance of a move elsewhere, due to the housing shortage..written a wee poem about life on the estate..will find the writing thread and stick it on there.

Our van, which we just paid $1,100 to replace timing belt, drive belts & oil change, died mysteriously deep in cowboy country of Washington State. It's still there, in a mechanic's lot, had to rent a car to get home.

Don't really want to abandon it but can't afford to fix it at the moment.
