The heritage tour of the Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool tomorrow that I mentioned I was going to on the Going to The Theatre thread has been cancelled. I am absolutely gutted. They only do them on the first Tuesday of each month. I'm never going to get to see the seat I adopted. :(

Virgin Trains strike again. We've just had a power outtage on our train and we're going to be at least half an hour late home.

Gideon Osborne probably had it delayed so that he could have a better journey himself.

Day 10 with no power after Superstorm Sandy. We have a generator, so we have heat and the fridge is on and stuff.

Tuesday night the damn thing caught fire and it spread to the storage shed (destroyed along with it's contents) and the flames lapped the house, whch had it's siding burned along with the wiring for the electricity and Verizon FiOS. Got the fire out by shoveling snow onto it (joined by the neighbors) while waiting for the Fire Department, who were delayed by downed lines on the street. No-one hurt, house is still habitable and we borrowed a replacement generator.

Today the power utility is working on our street and the lines to our house are destroyed by the fire. Hopefully our electrician can get that repaired in tandem with the utility company's street progress...

Black Friday-IMO anyone who camps out for 28 hours for a Flat Screen TV at 30% off should be removed from the gene pool.

We buy good quality, dry cat food from a local-ish producer. Bit more expensive but not crazy, and hey it's food for our cats!

Ran out last week, after hours for the pet food store, grabbed a tin of whatever from the nearest open shop. After 3 days of vomiting, we took our older cat to the vet, she's now day 2 on an IV drip (rehydrate) with a pancreas infection caused by yup, bad food. Hopefully home tomorrow.

The vet's quote was $500-800 - that's one expensive tin of cat food! Sorry kids, xmas is canceled! (not really, 'cause we already got 'em nice things for their various artistic pursuits, and really it would have been a sad xmas indeed without our dear sweet Molly).
