Big Moan from me. Unable to login without generating a new password too often these days. Don't know what the problem is. Also not happy to discover my new topic Lifestyle Changes was removed. Shame really, on both counts.

Could be a giant fuckup that caused five days of posts to go away and made EVERYONE have to log in again. Or it could be a conspiracy. Take your pick.

Speaking of which, did you get your pink slip from the board of directors yet? I hope at least that you negotiated a huge golden parachute comparable to other CEO's severance packages in your contract?

Funny you should ask, and in keeping with the spirit of this thread ...

Today is the last day of the contract I've been working under since March. As of Monday I am, once again, suckling at the public teat. "Yay."

Sorry to hear that D.

"Sources indicate we are emerging from the meltdown."

Yeah right, .....already predicting lame retail sales, more home foreclosures, and increased unemployment down here.
I'm sure it's the same everywhere, regardless of the forecast.

Good luck to you Sir.

So earlier this week I'm in Disneyland Epcot with the family.....if you've never been, half the park is dedicated to "Countries around the world" where you walk though from one to another with areas of different buildings, shops, eateries, street acts, performers, etc from several countries....
We're strolling through Scotland into the Canadien area and we hear music....my wife says "Is that dirty old town"? I'm thinking hmm It sounds a bit like it. We get closer and sure enough a band clad in white t-shirts and kilts named "Off Kilter" is jamming away to what was probably the worst version I have ever heard. As they consisted of the normal rock quartet of rhythm guitar, bass, drums and lead guitar ..... It was so unexpected I had to stay, watch the wreck and still I found myself singing through the chorus. Unfortunately they ended the set with it and I didn't get a chance to see what else was on the set list.

Came back to edit...a quick google search shows them playing (I honestly thought they were a Disney creation) now I'm a miffed I didn't get to see more of them.

Nah...I wouldn't imagine I'd be in the running for a conspiracy on this one, much as I'd like to claim the status that I was worthy enough to conspire against  I've had this login issue a few times lately but I feel better knowing I wasn't the only numpty sending off hither for a new password a few times. Lucky I kept a copy of my Lifestyle thread so I can re-post it.

I have a couple of their CD's I received as gifts and some of their stuff is not too bad, but I agree their Dirty Old Town is horrible. They are a house band at Epcot. Don't get me wrong, I don't recommend anyone going out to find their stuff; but if you happen to be in the area of Epcot they are a not too bad a diversion. I don't think I would pay money to see them. As I recall though, bagpipes was essentially their "lead guitar," and they had a keyboardist. Their songs are loaded with bagpipe.

And, not to be too nitpicky, but you were in Disney World, not Disneyland. Disneyland is in California. And you were strolling through "the UK" into Canada.

Hope you had a great time!

Ahh Kmurry thanks for the detail corrections, my Disney locale's. I didnt see any bagpipes on the D O T version but I think there were some keyboard in the backround after you mention it. I wish they had a Youtube of that. Words can't describe it....I was truly interested to see the rest of what they had to play but you know, but trying to get back for their next set wasn't high on the list for Mrs NJ and family in the Magic Kingdom that day. I was honestly completely taken by suprize by them.

speaking of Disneyworld, they opened an Irish themed restaurant called Raglan Road at the entrance to Paradise Island a couple of years back. Some supposedly famous Irish chef runs it. There is also a gift shop and a fish and chip shop there. The restaurant itself plays a lot of Pogues along with a lot of good Irish music. And the food is good. Hal Roach recordings play in the bathrooms.

Ahh wish I knew at the time, I would have checked it out. It was the one place I was just totally caught off guard by the music. They had street actors doing Dickens with tourists in the cast, and Father Christmas running around all bundled up in 80 degree weather. (I definately do not like Christmas lights on Palm trees no offense to anyone in these climates out there on the raft) I did wandered through a few shops in Britan. I saw the $45 Beatles T-shirts and the $25 coffee mugs and said I won't be shopping in here today. Got me a nice 1920 style Mickey on a mug for about $12 and the wife picked out a Christmas ornament for the tree.
I did get a chance to go to Emerils Tchoup Chop in the Royal Pacific resort near Universal. (Which I prefer over Disney, I feel they try harder) We didn't stay there but the Hotel was amazing. The resturant and the food was amazing. One of the top 10 meals I ever had. If ever in Universal I highly recommend. Just remember It's not the Emeril's on City Walk !

The chips are fantastic. I stopped in there a couple of years ago while we were waiting to go to a concert or something. I still dream of the chips to this day.
