Very sad but something nice to say.

Dear Friends,
Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey.

Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration... he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! He did it every time he took the stage...

We appreciate all the love and support and concern.
From his daughter Amy, and wife Sandy

The Royal Court Liverpool Trust has made me, yes me, an official Adopt-a-Seat Guardian. :D

Ah, the benefits of networking.

My number 1 son has been accepted at Institut d'études politiques de Paris. Congrats, young man! :D
He should be arriving in Paris just in time for Les Pogues Sep 11 !
I have previously booked another trip, and can't make the big Medusan reunion, but The Boy has a ticket, and will be front and off-centre at L'Olympia.
Buy him beer and treat him nice!
...ain't it funny how you used to know everybody in these parts...

My sister's Irish dancers were on America's Got Talent last night. Any votes for these talented young people would be appreciated. Clark Academy of Irish Dance in St. Louis

Done. They were #1 when I voted.
Thought they were kids, now having seen it, I realize I was assuming a couple of things. :)

Great spokeswoman, good luck to them.

The Olympic Torch Parade was much better than I thought it would be. People turned out in their thousands and had a jolly nice time!

That's interesting. I've been assuming that I will plan to avoid it completely when it passes through here in a few weeks' time. Am I being an unnecessarily cynical and grumpy old baxtard?

Hell yeah. I was too......but I was completely wrong. We had The Wombats who were very popular with the young folk.

Just won an inexpensive bid on a mandolin on the ebay! With postage it's less than $100 for something worth about twice that. It's an older "Harmony" (ie: the Sears catalog ones), which should compliment our Harmony Stella guitar nicely. It also replaces the two mandos i sold to pay form my daughter's piano (she practices hard, i don't, fair enough).

Our raft mate Territa made her way to South Dakota to spend a couple of nights with us. I am just so happy to see her hanging at our house for the weekend.
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

I thought there was a list toward South Dakota.
