The Thread for People who Just Want to Say Something Nice

Post Mon Jul 06, 2009 12:54 pm

I don't know a lot about "ancient Irish history" or current Irish politics (or any politics!), I don't follow the sport, I don't know the Pogues discography like the back of my hand (far from it). What I do know is, that I love the music of the Pogues, and I enjoy chatting (but not arguing) with fellow Pogues fans. No doubt this thread will bore the pants off of some people, but I am sure there are many more interesting threads you can participate in so please skip over this one if you feel the need for feisty or controversial banter. I hope any new forum visitors (and old regulars!) will feel free to say hi on this thread and know you will get a friendly reception and warm welcome. :D

Not bad so far, but you know how it is after a holiday weekend, I feel like I need another day off to get over it all! 8)

Also, I'm trying to figure out a way of going to see the Pogues again. I would have to fly though (terrifying ) and flights seem a bit expensive right now. I keep hearing all this bargain flight talk but have never been guilty of obtaining one!

Hi all, an interesting thread, now let me think of something nice to say, i have the next two days off. :P

Jane, reading your comment has raised a question regarding the 4th July holiday weekend. Independence day is a public holiday and this year it fell on a Saturday, did that mean that the holiday was the Friday? or because it falls on a weekend, do you lose the days holiday?

I can answer that - it fell on the Friday. Hold on, that question wasn't directed at me, that wasn't a very nice thing to do - to answer someone elses question. Apologies.

I think we should rename this thread the "Chill out Lounge"

What a lovely thread, beautiful day today here, bright sunshine and temps in the high 70's <fahrenheit of course>

Speaking of the holiday, I'm taking Friday and Monday just to make sure I don't miss it since no one in my company bothered to send the "official memo" from Gigantor Corp Office.

"nice to be around, very popular in the team - although gets easily distracted"

Sounds exactly like my school report. "potential to go very far although gets distracted"

:)

I'm taking Fridays off during the summer. My child is in his school summer camp but he doesn't like the field trips that they do every Friday. Too fecking hot and the bus more often than not breaks down. He's not a bad judge of what's good and what's not...I mean he loves the Pogues, so he's defintely on to something there! So anyway, I'm enjoying four day weeks for the rest of this summer. 8)

Sounds very familiar! I'd turn it around on them and say that it's your ability to multi-task (a.k.a. piddling around online) and daydream (sleeping at the desk), that assists you in your strategic thinking and unique vision.
