Ten Percent - British comedy series on Prime Video. Based on the French series Dix pour cent, set in a talent agency in London. Fans of Twenty Twelve and W1A will enjoy this, although it does add some serious storylines and is more "comedy drama" than straight comedy.

Is this the same as Call My Agent? We loved that.

Four Strangers [Uspjeh], a good bit of Croatian noir under the C4 Walter Presents banner.

And Trom, Faroese noir. The Faroe Islands look nice. Mostly.

Those LOOK like real words but are clearly gibberish made by someone that has seen the Latin-derived languages and is trying to approximate them. It's like they're grasping for "lorem ipsum dolarum sit amet" but aren't aware that there is already a standard.

I think it's what's called "creative writing". Alternatively it could be nonsense.

We've also finally got season 2 of The Great. Which is what it says, again.

It is, in fact, pretty great.

I've been very happy that Primal has returned for Season 2. It is as bloody and brutal and completely historically bonkers as before, yet remains remarkably effective at telling a story with humor, humanity, pathos, and more nearly all visually. And it remains a fine embodiment of "a boy and his dog."

Also been enjoying the final season of Better Call Saul. They're doing a very good job tying up all their own lose ends and then feeding smoothly into the timeline/story of Breaking Bad. I'll miss this show after its gone.

The Book Of Boba Fett & Obi Wan Kenobi

I actually liked Book of Boba Fett more, despite not really liking this Boba Fett character they've developed. It is a bit of an ensemble show, so the pressure is off the lead to carry the whole thing. That said, Ewan MacGreggor does a fine job leading Obi Wan Kenobi, but I think the overwhelming brooding seriousness of the latter Star Wars movies inevitably seeps into this show a bit. Book of Boba Fett has a sometimes outright lighthearted aspect missing from much of the franchise (Amy Sedaris as mechanic Peli Motto: "I dated a Jawa once <snaps teetch 2x>... very furry").

That said, I enjoyed both.

She-Hulk - It's silly and irreverent, in a good way, and feminist in that it's written by women and gives a slightly realistic portrayal of women in a realistic modern world (except for the supers). We are really enjoying it, but the producers are squandering Tatiana Maslany. They scored the greatest multi-role actor since Peter Sellers (if you haven't seen Orphan Black, she played many very different clones, and she did it amazingly) and then subbed in a cheesy smiley CGI She Hulk with none of Maslany's gifts.

Rings Of Power - I'm struggling to love it. I guess my main complaint is that the elves really lack the gravitas that they had in the LOTR films. They are acted a bit too human. The young & angry Galadriel character is a bit hackneyed too. It's still pretty good for those who like fantasy and a must-watch for Tolkien fans. Still 1,000,000 times better than The Hobbit films.

House Of The Dragon - Me and especially Mrs. Me are actually liking this more. The producers of the Tolkien series have done their best to bring women into the stories, but George R.R. has always paid more attention to women, even in his earlier work. There's a line in episode 3 that feels... current: "Men would rather set the realm ablaze than see a woman ascend the Iron Throne." Also, I wasn't sure Matt Smith could pull off bad guy / creepy uncle but he's amazing.

We have tried starting this. Really wanted to like it, and Mme firehazard even put up with my making us watch it against her better judgement. But oh feck it's so bleedin' slow. And those pre-hobbit types who sound like OrishRover ffs. Have given up now.

Mind you, from my memories of reading The Silmarillion, that was pretty darn slow too.

And yeah, still better than those Hobbit films. Mind you, a visit to the dentist is better than those.

This is very true. Took me three attempts, the third was was during the full lockdown part of the pandemic, finally got through it. Found i needed long uninterrupted stretches (and have the Tolkien atlas & bestiary to hand helped as well).

:D Very true! I tried re-watching when I was laid up with COVID, couldn't even in that state.

Succession - The show is great, but I had a hard time getting into it b/c I don't care about any of the spoiled arrogant rich people or their terrible company. But the spouse likes it so we watched and eventually it stuck. I guess it's a form of hate-watching - I don't hate the show, just the characters, and it is fun to watch them scheme and backstab, I guess. Very Shakespearean. Worth watching for the senate hearings alone.

Kevin Can F**k Himself - A dark comedy, and a send-up of the misogynistic TV we all grew up with and the sitcom medium itself. While not perfect or always successful, it was overall great and i for one enjoyed the use of lighting and laugh track to highlight perspective change, and just when it starts to get old they change it up. Annie Murphy in the lead role is amazing.

Bob's Burgers - We use this as a palate cleanser after shows or movies that are too intense. It continues to be entertaining and lighthearted without being just stupid like so many "adult" cartoons.

What a shit show in Florida.
Press mixed with YouTubers mixed with red or American flag dressed supporters being interviewed as freaks.
Such a classy ex-President, such an intelligent crowd.
May he get a perfect indictment and may his ratings be sky high.
What a dick.
