Thank you kindly. It's off to a great start with news stories like this:
Trump had imagined a showy military send-off that more resembled authoritarian pageantry than the placid rituals of American electoral democracy, but those dreams were dashed as only a modest crowd of a few hundred aides and other loyalists showed up at Joint Base Andrews to see him off.

I've been promised riots and/or more insurrection. I'm not sure how to feel about that, but it'll be a first for me if they deliver. Most memorable birthday in years, maybe!

Happy belated.

Greta Thunberg gave big ol’ orange stank the righteous kick in the ass he deserved (on his way to bankruptcy court, and even more!, again).

LOL.

But the instead you got Jon Bon Jovi singing 'Here Comes The Sun's, does that count?

Welp, the hangover is wearing off and the sun came up and things are still looking better. Thanks for all the kind wishes!

It feels like being in junior high school and knowing that the bully that picked on you every single day has been suspended. Yes yes, the shit-show of junior high still lingers, but at least the bully is gone. Everything else seems just a bit more tolerable.

Talking to another friend elsewhere in Europe yesterday, we both reflected that it felt like we could take a big sigh of relief, even over this side of the water. Now we have our own demagogues to deal with.

I think today is Mr ClashCadillac's birthday too. So happy wishes to him. It's been a long time.

I watched a bit after work on PBS and some clips on the 24 hr news stations and... good Lord, he was atrocious.
That big toothed smile at the end did me in.

JLo too. Has no one ever told her she can’t fucking sing? She ruined This Land is Your Land, ffs.
Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got...

The monuments were beautiful though. Nothing beats D.C. at night.

John Legend’s reflective piano top was nice.

Thanks.

Well... I’m about to take a first class flight to Seattle for two nights after spending the night in a city I’ve never stayed in before.

Got my free birthday spaghetti and meatballs last night so I’ve got that going for me.

That sounds dirty but was actual spaghetti and meatballs.

It's still dirty if you eat it right.

You know what sounds dirty to an American such as myself?

Poundland.
https://www.poundland.co.uk

Which I guess is called Dealz in Dublin now.

I love the dollar stores in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Hell's Kitchen.

Oh it absolutely is dirty. And in normal times, the one here is rammed. As it were.
