Last Show Japan 1991

Post Mon May 26, 2008 1:46 pm

Sounds great except for Shane. It's acctually sort of sad listening to it. But Young Ned of the Hill is amazing!

Heard all the tracks except for Star of the County Down. Has anyone heard that one? I really love that song!

I have a dvd of it and they don't do Star of the county Down on that. Repeal of the licensing laws is a train wreck of a diaster.
I love it when a plan comes together.

The artist formerly known as Guest.

Body of an American was not much better ;)
(directly after Repeal)
Although it was there last Gig together bevore splitting, i wonder, that i see a relativele relaxed atmosphere at the stage.
Mr. C and Spider sometimes look not so happy in Shane´s direction, but i expected worser.

Another question:
What das this joke from Shane mean at 6:25:

I think it's intended to be his impersonation of Yukio Mishima's ritual self-sacrifice. Nobody ever found Shane to be lacking in black humour - even after he has just lost his job.

Thanks Philip.

I wonder what you all where thinking, when they stand around Shane in the first movie at 5:15.
Jem was surprised, Mr. Fearnley laughed...what did you think in such situations?
I laugh, because i imagine how hard it has to be, waiting, to improvise, when and if he starts to sing again... ;)

Sorry for my first wrong link. I fixed my first post just a minute ago.

Gee, I dunno. I was still trying to figure out how we played "Repeal" quite so fast. And why I had forgotten there was sax on it for a while.

I saw yesterday evening the Repeal and thought: What the hell is going on. Have i pulled the dubble speed trigger?
And if Spider stopped the first time, and looked back to Andrew, i felt that he was standing there like a poor boy, realizing that all his comrades on the playground are screwing him Image

I've just watched this and thought it wasn't too bad. Did the dreaded hotel room meeting happen before or after?

Before. But don't forget the meeting was cathartic too and I suppose the gig was an in-band assertion of continuity. Nobody died that day.

But it was a defining moment in music history??????????? Like John Lennon finishing the Beatles and calling McCartneys plans to put them back on the road 'daft' (do you know that there where only three beatles in that meeting and the last time the four of them were together was some months before? However recent descriptions of that meeting in films, books etc attempts to show all of them there). Errrr actually I think i'll get my coat :D

No I could see why it wouldnt be considered the perfect gig but I think its been overagerated how bad the concert was. I loved Shanes comments at the end ha ha

Yes, but it was Darryl who ended the Pogues [at least in Shane's retelling] and splits don't get a great deal more benign than that.
