What does the band think?

I was just curious if anybody knows what the band thinks of bootlegs being recorded/traded. I know that Philip Chevron posts on these forums occasionally and maybe he could say what he thinks.

To quote the great Manuel, the waiter from Barcelona in Fawlty Towers: "I know nothing".

I always think that bootlegs are fine when they are distributed among lots of people and the distributor doesn't charge for it. In the case of Streams of Whiskey someone makes money from a bootleg and that's what annoys me but the Kufen's ftp is great! Everyone can grab a bootleg of their choice there.

I agree completely. Bootlegs are no competition to official recordings - they are of interest to hard-core fans only and these will buy all the official material anyway. It is just additional enjoyment. :)

david rovics is the best artist ever. he has a bunch of links on his web site to where you can download every one of his songs for free and he doesn't give a damn if no one buys the actual CD. :D

no. he just never stops playing shows and since he's a hippie i bet he has a network of friends that give him shelter everywhere he goes.

anyway, i read an interview with spider. when asked about bootlegs he said he thinks it's great and can't believe there's so much stuff out there.
