I'm looking to find a song that i heard about 15 years ago and never managed to get a copy of, it's called HOTDOGS WITH EVERYTHING and as i remember, Shane was at his emotional best, the way the song was belted out was something i can't forget and if i possible ,i would appreciate if anybody could tell me what album it's from ,as it is not on any of the albums i have of the band.

IIRC it is Spider on vocals and Shane on backing vocals. It's from the Soundtrack for "Sid & Nancy" that has been released on CD a couple of years ago and should be available via amazon I guess.

It's Spider singing. Shane got cold feet about singing his own lyrics ("I've been wandering round the National Gallery/Wanking over pictures of Saint Sebastian") and confines himself to singing the backing vocals (with me). It's one of the two punk songs we supplied to Alex Cox for Sid And Nancy (the other was "Glued Up And Speeding", also sung by Spider, with Shane on lead guitar). I'm not sure where either/both of them happen in the movie, as I've not seen it since the premiere, but I've a feeling one of them is heard on a car radio briefly. "Hot Dogs" was on the b side of "Haunted", on the 12" at least, but did not make it to the Soundtrack CD. Obviously both numbers are prime candidates for the Pogues Treasure Chest in due course.

To tell you the truth, material is still coming to light and some of the people on this very Forum have been helping to find some of it. As we're encountering better quality versions of some recordings all the time, I think it's worth hanging on for. See you in Manchester.

Haven't seen the movie for some time either, but iirc it is "Haunted" that is heard on a car radio while "Sid" and "Nancy" are in a taxi, while "Hot Dogs" is in the background in a scene with Sid on some roof - playing with a gun or something.

Me too. Anyway, nothing new on the cards. Would I hold out on you?

I like "Hotdogs With Everything", I've just got hold of it myself (as Mr C points out, it is indeed on the 12" of "Haunted"). It's not on the 7" - that just has "Junk Theme" on the flip - which is also a rather cool track. The 12" has both "Junk" and "Hotdogs".
I think I prefer the original "Haunted" to the later version which Shane did with Sinead O'Connor. Though that's also great. At least I think so.

I have a CD of misc. Pogues stuff from the wild, west days of Napster.
Was wondering where Mama Lou and Got a Lotta Livin to Do came from?
Thanks in advance.

I've not heard of The Pogues performing a song called "Mama Lou" (not syaing it didn't happen, but I don't know about it).
"Got A Lot O' Living To Do" came from NME's "Last Temptation of Elvis" collection.

"Mama Lou" is by Shane & The Popes. It comes from the Crock Of Gold demos and appears on some of the compilations that are circulating among the fans (eg. "Back In The Pub Golden Sessions"), but I don't think it has ever been officially released.
