Re: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! - live DVDs
guest wrote:thanks macrua! - that was exactly my point, i am baffled that it took TWO full years for the pogues/warners to realise that they cannot release the dvd because of poor lighting - of course it is wonderful to be told of new projects, i just find the reason for this cancellation extremely lame. equally, i have always admired philip chevron's willingness to log in to this site and share information with fans, so i'm a bit surprised at his rather petulant reaction - surely you can understand the REASON for the disappointment, philip? and i know from my admittedly small pogues network around the world (around 20 people or so) that they are all dismayed thatthe pogues just can't seem to put a dvd together. this is one of the great great live bands of all time and all fans have to enjoy is a town and country dvd from 87 .....
Jesus. I go away for a bit and when I venture back on here, suddenly we've got some wag by the name of GUEST (I want to know the REASON why you can't be arsed to register pal) who wants to know why "the pogues just can't seem to put a dvd together...".
Got news for you Guest. I seriously doubt The Pogues (for that is what they are called) were personally putting a DVD together. Rather, they were encouraging a global record company to do so, and it so happens that said company have decided against it. Shit happens.
You can probably count on one hand the number of bands in the world who have even one member who frequents their own websites as much as Mr Chevron does and, for no personal gain whatsoever, keeps fans informed of what is happening (and indeed, not happening, maybe happening, probably happening etc) in Pogues-land. If you can't see what a privilege this is, you shouldn't be here. If Mr C now chooses to shut up shop that will be understandable but you'll have fucked this forum up for the vast majority of fans who really appreciate his generous and friendly presence here and are massively thankful for the regular glimpses into the band's world that Philip CHOOSES to share with us.
Remember the boxset? Imagine how shit the build-up to its release would have been if we hadn't the excitement of continual updates from Philip. It was almost as thrilling as actually listening to it.
Basically, if you want to criticise, it's your right to do so but please think it through first. What you said made little sense and was completely unreasonable. Shame on you.
Oh and Phil... (if you're reading)... still luvvin' the box set... it's the gift that keeps on givin'!
