I'd love to hear some new material. And from everything I'm reading, it looks like the guys are such perfectionists that they would not release a marginal record.

I couldn't disagree more. I think a new album would be brilliant. You only have to look at the genius in the back catalogue and you should know they'd produce the goods.
Anyway, how would we all grill our food in a low fat fashion if Foreman had stayed retired?

Well, George Foreman is back in the ring have the occasional fight for charity, so I imagine our low fat foods will remain unaffected.
However, I would very much like to hear new Pogues material. I refuse to get my hopes up, though, in the event that such an album never sees the day.

A new album could be either a disater or a real revelation.
There is no doubt that the Pogues have the talent and ability, only do they have the desire? If they were to go about it half assed then there would be no point.
Personally I would love it if they did a 'Johnny Cash', and get Rick Ruben in to produce a dirty, stripped down, no frills honest album.

Lets hope for some new stuff. The Pogues i saw on stage last week were a band who seemed to be really enjoying themselves.
Could they spend some time in the studio together?
lets hope so.
Cheers

We're counting on you Pogues to make a new album. You can't just tease us with mini-tours that 90 percent of the population of the planet earth CANNOT experience.
Do it Pogues, DO IT, DO IT! For Christ sake, if Tom Waits can do it, you can. Who cares if Shane sounds somewhat raspy. Just slap some false teeth in there for the recording.
It must be done

We need new Pogues music. I trust that the Pogues will have enough sense to make a good album. Shane may be down but not out.
A suggestion

Make a new album half covers, half originals. This should take the pressure off you old farts! Just kidding, you're not that old. But if you wait too long you may be!

Seems like there has been a change of spirit to the better in the latest interviews, if the quotes in this thread are correct. I would love it if they released a new album. If it would be even half as good as the last albums, it would be nothing short of amazing! I love Hell's Ditch, Waiting for Herb and Pogue Mahone - and I love both The Snake and Crock of Gold, so I think they could do well.
But I'm not getting my hopes up too high, in case there never will be any more albums.
Let's just pray to whatever diety up there that there will be one
