Can anybody give me some information about the bootleg I just bought?
"Soít" 2002, live at Markthalle Hamburg, Germany and Hammersmith Odeon, London (1985).
This is purple vinyl with white label. There's no text or anything on the label.

Has the band had anything to do with this release? I mean, has this release been somehow approved by the band?

According to MSWord document found in http://www.shanemacgowan.de
(http://www.shanemacgowan.de/Discography/Juergen.doc) there are black, white and purple vinyls made.

What does "white lable test pressing" mean? Which one is more rare, a copy with white or normal label?

Oh no... I seem to be really ignorant of these terms... I wasn't aware that bootleg always means exactly the same as a pirate copy.

Maybe I shouldn't have bought the record in the first place.

I also have to admit that I hadn't visited http://www.pogueslive.com/. Now I'm much wiser than before!

Typically a bootleg is a fan (I'm likely being more generous than I should) produced recording of a live performance being pressed and sold in small quantaties. Usually these recordings are prohibited by the promoter and/or the band's label. In some cases the bands themselves also oppose them. It is by far the exception when all three allow and/or encourage them.

The Pogues as a band have had only one full-length live album released - the "Disc 2" of the recent "Ultimate Pogues" collection. Any other full-length performance can be assumed to be at best a violation of the wishes of the band, and at worst are also possibly illegal depending onthe laws of the country you reside in.

I bought this thing last night. It's a bootleg of a live show and two other songs, all from the mid '80s. What do you know about it? Thanks.

This bootleg vinyl album was commercially released in 2002 by Eldorado Records. The catalogue number on the sleeve is 3.14639 AC, whereas on the record label it is RSE 205221!! The record label also states "All songs written and played by Soit" 200 copies were pressed in white vinyl, 200 in purple vinyl and 1000 copies on black vinyl. Sea Shanty and The Parting Glass, recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon 08-Dec-85 are tacked onto the end of Side 2 as fillers.

There was a time when it only took a few swigs of Bison Vodka for Mr Ranken to burst into his "Lachend" song in the van/tourbus/dressing room/hotel room/airport/stage. He hasn't sung it for a while. It was supplanted by "Worms" and, in turn, by "The Garden Where The Praties Grow" and "Courtin' In The Kitchen".
