No need to apologize for your English; it's damn good if you ask me.

I got 'Streams of Whiskey" because I desperately needed another Pogues cd and this was the only cd I could find nearby my home without having to order it online. Everything else was sold out or I already had. I knew the Pogues didn't support it but dangit man I needed a fix!

The live stuff I've downloaded sounds equal to it (to my ears at least) but it's a good listening once you get use to it.

I have to admit, I have a copy of this. I love the version of Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, which is so different to the studio one. I really hope The Pogues eventually release some of the old live versions of songs like Young Ned and Turkish Song, which were also very different from the studio versions.

I think the Pogues now get some royalties from this, which they did not previously and there fore did not approve of it being sold in mainstream shops/outlets.. Feel free to correct my if Iam wrong.

A similar situation pertains to the Town and Country DVD, although in the latter case, we always quite liked the two Billy Magra films contained therein and our gripe was the manufacturer missed an opportunity to remaster the fims and add extra material.

Again, Live On Rain Street was fine as a bootleg for people who like to collect such souvenirs. To present it as a legitimate Pogues live album was to invite justifiable criticism of the quality control which, in turn, reflects badly on the Pogues' integrity and could have caused irreparable damage to our reputation as one of the best live bands in the world.

In truth, the record company made an own goal for themselves. When they scheduled Streams Of Whiskey for release in January 2002, quite the last thing on their mind was the possibility that yer actual, original, legitimate, not to say litigious Pogues would be reforming in December 2001.

You be your own judge on that matter. As with the earlier posts above, the CD is worth getting (I myself have it,) but the sound quality on some of the songs is quite diminished, especially Terry's opening vocals on Young Ned of the Hill. But if your a die-hard Pogues fan, as all of us are, then I say spend the money, never hurts adding another CD to the collection.

No.

The dodgy geezers who put it out were finally forced to pay us compensation for their unauthorised release a few years back. With any luck, the payment exceeded the revenues they made on the set. I'd hate to see them now actually having an income stream from this piece of crap. Buy it secondhand on eBay if you must.

Have you never considered releasing an official live album in the late eighties or early nineties ? And if you did consider it, why didn´t it work out ?

Just curious. Thanks. :D

We recorded "proper" live albums in 1987 (Glasgow), 1988 (London) and twice in 1991(with the Chieftains and with Joe Strummer) but never rated the results enough to release them except in excerpt form. The passage of time has shown them to be rather good, but it made more sense by then to release the 2001 album.

It´s great to hear that there´s some material that might see the light of day sometime. I hope you decide on releasing them (especially those from 1991, as they must be something special) ! :P

I'm on the record as being ready to pay pretty much anything for a Strummer-fronted show release. The Turkish Song of the Damned on the Tuesday Morning single kicked ass. I'd kill to hear a pro-recorded version of If I Should Fall From Grace With God or Sayonara.

There it is. Anonymous guest "I-Hate-Usernames" is on record. Unless, you know, somebody else is anonymously posting with the same name. Then it might be somebody else on record. Hard to know for sure.

Or Straight To Hell. Yessiree.

Hey man, don't knock the fact that I'm not registered. Maybe I need anonymity to get away from my dark and troubled past? You ever think about that? Jeez you're judgmental.
