Pogues Rare Tracks and B-Sides

Post Thu Feb 02, 2006 12:06 pm

I have got some tracks that are said to be Pogues rare tracks. Maybe they are from the "Straight to Hell OST" sessions. Can anybody confirm that these tracks were recorded by the band?

1-Long Cool Day in Hell
2-Bolero del Perro Listo
3-Night on Bald Mountain
4-Harmonicas
5-Big Question Mark
6-L'Amoria
7-Obsession
8-Quiet Day in Blanco Town
9-Taranta del Fuente

Thanks

I have The Pogues rare B-Sides Volume One and Two. So most of their rare tracks I already own. The new remastered CDS have most of them, but for some reason some were omitted.

Here Is the Track Listing of both CDs

VOL. ONE

1. Repeal of the Licensing Laws
2. Whiskey You're the Devil
3. Muirshin Durkin
4. The Wild Rover
5. The Leaving of Liverpool
6. The Parting Glass
7. A Rainy Night In Soho (1986 version)
8. London Girl
9. The Body of an American
10. Planxty Noel Hill
11. Haunted
12. Hot Dogs With Everything
13. The Junk Theme
14. The Irish Rover
15. The Rare Old Mountain Dew
16. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
17. Rake At the Gates of Hell
18. Rabinga
19. Danny Boy
20. Shanne Bradley
21. Johnny Come Lately

VOL. Two

1. Sketches of Spain
2. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
3. The Limerick Rake
4. Honky Tonk Women
5. Train of Love
6. Everyman Is a King
7. The Star of the County Down
8. Jack's Heroes
9. Whiskey In the Jar
10. The Bastard Landlord
11. Miss Otis Regrets/Just One of Those Things
12. Go A Lot of Livin' To Do
13. Irish Ways
14. Johnny
15. For the Children
16. Callin' Me Home Again
17. Infinity
18. Curse of Love
19. Squid Out of Water
20. In and Out
21. All the Tears That I Cried

Those are most of The Pogues hard to find titles. As before I got lucky and was able to find these rare tracks at second hand record shops in Virginia (not to many Pogues Fans in the Commonwealth). So keep you eyes open and you should find these singles as well. Also, Philip Chevron has posted an upcoming Pogues box set with even more demos, hopefully it includes the very rare Falconer Demos and others as well.

I have compiled a list of all songs released by the band.
This list is probably complete. Unofficial bootleg releases are not included.

Thanx for the info about "Straight to Hell Returns". I didn´t know that this new version has been released. I got "Straight to Hell" in CD in 1992.

I have heard or own most of these tracks except for the 2nd half of the 2nd volume(#13 + ). Are these sung by Shane or are these from the Waiting for Herb/Pogue Mahone era?

All of the "new" ones are (i.e. the ones not on the original Straight To Hell soundtrack CD).

Also, very rare demos of The Pogues, such as the infamous Falconer Demos (still fucking can't find those anywhere) pop up every now and then
