Self Aid filmed

This one is a mystery
I have the LP and the CD with this song
BUT did they record the whole gig as a "Pro-shot" video?
Did they record the audio?
If so someone must have it somewhere 8)

I have always hoped that someone in the Pogues organisation could collect all their TV-performances through the years and released it as a DVD.
Why not this anniversary year.
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground. But you'll stick your head back out and shout "We'll have another round"

The entire Self Aid show was filmed and taped, though not by us. MCA records, I think. They used "Dirty Old Town" from our set for their souvenir Live For Ireland album(s). We also played, I think, "Body Of An American", "Sally MacLennane" and one other, though I stand to be corrected on this.

TV footage is incredibly expensive to license, as Nora Myer has been discovering in putting together her Pogues movie.

Thanks for the information mr.Chevron
What a shame that the licenses are so expensive.
Next thing must be to get a very Rich Pogues-Fan who can put some money in a project like this 8)
It would be so cool to have all this fantastic material on a DVD.
You have the Alabama-show (German TV), Self Aid, The SNL-show, 2 Japan-concerts and probably more fantastic stuff in the archives.
But some day maybe ........ if we have some luck

Whiskey in The Jar with The Pogues, U2, Bob Geldof and others has surfaced on a U2 bootleg called U2 Duets.

Bits & pieces pop up from time to time. I've seen the whole Thin Lizzy set - Geldof joined 'em for "Cowboy Song" and gave maybe the worst vocal performance of his life (ironically shortly after one of the best - the Rats "Joey's on the Street Again" - their final number ever).

Shame they can't just put it all up streaming somewhere, was a freaking charity gig, after all!

I have the album of this somewhere. I think the only Pogues track is 'Dirty Old Town' but I seem to remember seeing a double album once when I was in Dublin. Van Morrison does a song called 'Here comes the Knight' which isnt 'Here comes the night' (Song that he did with THEM). Also Chris Rea does and almost passible 'Steel River' and Elvis does 'Many Rivers to Cross' (Costello not Presley ((now that would have been some gig ha ha))..)

I think there are several different versions - at the least, a single vinyl, a 2-lp vinyl, and CD editions all with different track listings.

I have a single LP edition that has The Rats doing "Joeys On The Street Again", but the CD i saw recently has "Looking Out For No. 1" instead, as I think does the double-lp. The CD also has Gary Moore & Thin Lizzy doing "Don't Believe A Word" whislt my LP is entirely Lizzy-less. All of 'em seem to only have the one Pogues track, though!

The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn / The Body Of An American / Dirty Old Town / Sally MacLennane

I have an audience-recorded bootleg of the set, don't know if the proper recording has leaked or not.
