Other Irish Artists

What other Irish bands/singers do you guys like besides the Pogues???
Although a very different kind of Irish music from the Pogues, I myself have been enjoying Ronan Tynan a lot lately...His style is well rooted in Irish tradition and he is an incredible singer. Check out samples from his new CD at ronantynan.net if you haven't heard him.

So what other Irish Artists do you listen to?

Dubliners, Clancy Brothers, Wolfe Tones, Noel McLoughlin, Fureys, Sweeney’s Men, Woods Band, Oysterband, Chieftains (unless they let some saccharine pop-star take over the mic).

It was on the 23rd of June

A small bird sang on an ivy branch
And the song they sang was the "Jug of Punch"

The first couple of Christy Moore records are great - Prosperous has "Spancil Hill" which Christy did with Shane at one point....I think it may be available on Kufen's ftp site for download

Great band, brilliant live act... but they're not Irish. (Though come to think of it maybe one of them has distant Irish ancestry...)
See http://www.oysterband.co.uk/ for background, biography etc.

Good choice, Zuzana! I'd add to the list Sharon Shannon, for now, I'll probably think of others later.
