Re: St. Patrick's Day, BOSTON, 2008

theCOOP wrote:Yeah, so the Roman Catholic Church has moved St Patrick's Day to March 15 this year. The Parade in Boston is on the 16th according to Boston.com.

So what should I expect driving into Boston on the evening of the 17th?

Are folks in Boston still going to treat the 17th as St. Patrick's Day regardless? Or are they treating the 15th or 16th as St Patrick's Day?

Driving shouldn't be that bad I think compared to every other night. It's more like St. Patricks Week here...there will be something every night. Also, officially, the City of Boston celebrates "Evacuation Day" on the 17th, the day the brits left! But we all know the real reason why the City is closed....

Nevermind the fact that there's only 2 shows in town,650 count for each...that'll cut down on the usual mayhem of all week,2000 capacity...if you got tix,God bless ya,you're the first one I've heard...we bailed out,not even gonna try.Bought Pogues for all 3 nights here. You guys want to fight over $25 dollar tix starting at $500,I wish you luck.Have fun with that.

Found this clip of skinhead where you can see yours truly surprisingly well for a good amount of it. Look for the hooligan-looking fucker in a black scally cap sort of behind Al.

This april will be the third time seeing them live in Amsterdam. Heard Marc left the band, so I'm kind of curious how they solved that.

Tim is taking over his guitar spot & they are being joined by Jeff DeRosa who will take over the whistles, mandolin & accordian vacated by Tim

Apparently they are changing the 15th show to the Tsongas Arena rather than Lowell Memorial and running special trains and buses to get fans there. Jesus that really speaks for a band huh? Getting the MBTA off their ass is no mean feat.

Just a word on Tsongas. If you want to get home after the concert, don't park in the parking garage next to the
arena. It is worth it to park further away-closer to the Lowell Spinner Park. The Brewhouse is a good pre-concert spot.

I gotta say I don't like that the show is in the arena now, I was looking forward to the aud. I tend not to like arena shows. Anyway, even though I've no ticket to monday nights show at the paradise, it looking good! *fingers crossed* That should be an amazing show.

Good luck Son Of Erin,I played my "friend of the warm up band" card, and they are allowed one, count it,one person each as a guest for the warm ups. Can't say I didn't try!Hope you get in & have a great show, wish I was there.However...these last 2 nights of Pogues shows have been fucking outstanding.Shane was perfect on the 1st night, and almost as good tonight. And we pulled a double header,as Darkbuster was in Hoboken & playing at midnight,so we we're actually able to pull off both shows.Got home at 4:30,haven't done that in a looong time!Billy Bragg was worth the price of admission tonight. It's rare that you see the Roseland floor completely packed for a warm up,but it was full for Billy...& he didn't disappoint. He should've done the whole tour..again,I hope you get in,I'll be with the Pogues but part of my mind will wander up north.Happy St Paddys!!

Thanks! Yeah I would've liked to see Bragg, too bad he isn't playing up here. "Darkbuster Light" opened tonite for DKM along with PInkerton Thugs.
What a fucking great show tonight! The best I've seen in a while from DKM. In such a small venue, the whole place was going nuts. Good mix of old & new stuff I thought. Even played a Johnny Thunders song.(I think it was anyway) We were on the list & got VIP access, so it was cool. So much fun! It makes me look forward to The Pogues even more!
