Dropkick Murphys

Dropkick Murphys will perform "The State Of Massachusetts" tonight on the Late Show with David Letterman .. (CBS 11:30pm).



As was widely reported in the media David Letterman's production company negotiated direct with the WGA to end the strike for their writers allowing them to return to work and paving the way for DKM to appear on the show while other production companies are still being affected by the union action. Letterman is a WGA member himself.



This is DKM's first ever performance on Letterman and we received such a favorable response that we were asked to record a second song at Dave's request. You can check out a web exclusive performance of "Shipping Off To Boston," on the Late Show's website:

Yeah they started in on the second song straight away which was really nice.
The had a good energetic performance I thought.

Tonight they were in Belfast and played a very good show indeed. The support was solid and the Murphys played a long set with a good mix of old stuff and off the latest album. Spider made an appearance which was absolutely brilliant I even got talking to him for a very short while after the show. I also managed to snag a mic for most of Skinhead on the MBTA. A really good night.

They played Aberdeen tonight, probably the same set ans Belfast judging by the description.

Musically, they were on great form and there was an amazing atmosphere in the place (Moshulu is a real sweat box!), the only thing missing was any banter from the band, but I suppose they've never played the 'Deen before and didn't know what they could and couldn't say?

Anyone seeing them later in the tour is in for a great time.

Oh, and i got on stage for Skinhead on the MBTA and Alcohol

For Aussie fans...As a Brisbanite I'm pretty stoked - The Tivoli is an awesome old theatre - much better than the faulty air-con sweatbox that is the Arena(where DM played on their last tour.)

aye it was just the standard "Hello Aberdeen!" and "Thanks for coming out to see us"

When i've seen them headlining in London (as well as on the Boston DVD), Ken seemed to have a bit more to say, that said, both Ken and Al had a great connection with the crowd, they both seemed to love the fact that it was only a step from the stage to the front row, so they were coming down to us for every second song. Definatly one of the best gigs I've been to in Aberdeen, SLF probably shaded it. (Both gigs miles behind Pogues and DKM at Brixton though!)

I really enjoyed "Meanest of Times"

I also really enjoyed "Do or Die" and i think street Dogs are pretty good as well. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased...

Yeah, so the Roman Catholic Church has moved St Patrick's Day to March 15 this year. The Parade in Boston is on the 16th according to Boston.com.

So what should I expect driving into Boston on the evening of the 17th?

Are folks in Boston still going to treat the 17th as St. Patrick's Day regardless? Or are they treating the 15th or 16th as St Patrick's Day?
