I'd opt for Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike. Great album.

That's a band I'd love to see live. It hasn't happened yet.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Absolutely, go!

From what I have heard their show is brilliant, and I am still kicking myself for having missed them here last week in the Electric Ballroom. I only started looking for tickets when they had all sold out, and the reviews were fantastic.

they are amazing live
gypsy punk world strike is a great album, but also multi kontra vs irony and voi la intruder are worth a look for earlier stuff, but equally as good

Any Gogol Bordello fans here?

Post Wed Jun 13, 2007 1:19 pm

Gogol Bordello will be performing in my area soon and I like what I’ve learned about them, but I still haven’t heard much music by them yet. Which one album of theirs would you fans suggest that I buy, to get the primary gist of the experience? I’m a fan of both Eastern European and Irish traditional musics.

gonna see them live in two weeks time in Milan
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior
Shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout
"Let's have another round!"

well gypsy punk world punk would probably be best, it has had a bigger budget than the early stuff, its a great album, they manage to fuse alot of different style together

id suggest seeing them live to anyone

I met one of them in Boston in March. Jem introduced me. I believe he had just been doing a guest banjo part on one of their recordings.

i would agree. i stumbled across that album a few months back and thought "fuck, how the hell have i not heard of these guys? they're amazing!" clearly i don't get out enuf, kids & all. while i've added a couple of other discs, that's still the most-spun in our house.

Gogol Bordello -

Post Wed Jun 13, 2007 7:21 pm

check out the movie 'Everything is Illuminated' with Frodo, and Eugene Hutz, the lead singer of Gogol Bordello. It sort of flew under the radar, but Eugene was great in it. Some good music from GB, as well

saw them last night in Milan. Great gig. I was unlucky to get struck in the slowest ticket queue ever, so I missed the first 3-4 songs. couple of hours of music and heavy cursing in Italian (Santa Marinella is full of it)

I've been to Santa Marinella! And I got stuck in the slowest queue ever for pizza.

I have a Gogol Bordello CD which I haven't yet listened to, but I've liked the tracks I've heard on compilations. And I do want to see that film the lead singer appears in.
