And may I also add myself to the list of people recommending "The Girl Who Couldn't Fly", which is a fantastic album by anyone's standards.

That's my favourite of her albums.

I suppose what I meant was that you're not going to find Kate R experimenting with folk rock or eastern European music or salsa rhythms or whatever . . .

Never say never, Shaz.

I'm not sure whether my favourite album would be Hourglass or The Girl Who Couldn't Fly. I love Hourglass, can't quite believe it's 10 years old, it's got some great songs and lots of memories. But The Girl Who Couldn't Fly is a terrific album too... and she sort of pre-released with a brilliant performance at the Cambridge Folk Festival, causing the longest queue for a signing that I've ever seen. And she can do trad(ish) folk as well as songs with a more "contemporary" feel as well... :)

I am going to buy THe Girl that Could'nt Fly today. What do ye think of Sleepless. I bought the song Our Town off it(Cause I knew the song). The clips on I-Tunes seem as good as the other albums.

Listening to Hourglass and it is getting better and better. :D

Hmm, I haven't listened to Sleepless for a while - it's not in my itunes, and I think one of me girls has stolen the CD.

I'd say it's along the same lines as Hourglass, mostly trad folky tunes done in the Rusby style. Of the two, I sort of fell in love with Hourglass, if I'm honest, but that's not to say that Sleepless isn't a good album. Oh, I've just found a live version of what i think is the first song off it ("The Cobbler's Daughter") on the comp, recorded some time before the album. Brilliant stuff.

Hope you enjoy The Girl Who Couldn't Fly. Great album in my opinion. 8)

Our Town was the song that made me listen to more KR, even though it's a cover version.

I can't remember where I heard it before but it is a great song. And a great version.

Gig date in Glasgow, 24th Jan: Mr Roddy Woomble and Ms Kate Rusby. Well worth catching, I'd say.

That should be on the telly as well as I think the Beeb usually show highlights of Celtic Connections. They have done for the last two years anyway. Hopefully they will do so again this year.
