The Medusa Fora

Well I just bought the second volume of the Shite n Onions series of albums and one of the bands they featured was Mutiny, an Australian based Irish punk band. I immediately bought their first LP on itunes and it's great. Now I've ordered their latest EP and newly released LP from Australia and I can't wait to get those either. I just wanted to get the word out there and say that these guys are right up there with Blood or Whiskey in my book, who are second only to the Pogues.

I have both Rum Rebellion and Bag of Oats which are great. I've heard that a new cd has been in the works with a slightly different lineup. Not sure when its to be released though, hopefully soon.

I went and saw these guys on Friday night at The Empire Hotel in Sydney. Awesome band, I highly recommend both of those discs!

I got Bag of Oats and their new cd Co Op Brewery in the post the other day and this band is fantastic. I was a little disappointed they lost their fiddle player since Rum Rebellion, but I can't complain about it because all the music's still top notch.

'Ay all! - In my humble opinion, Mutiny are a bloody great band.

Before I met them and had actually seen them play I had a jovial go at 'em for parting ways with our box-player on their message board (actually, I knew all along that the parting was on good terms - and not only that but had little to do with me;I was just being a bit facetious, and certainly slightly drunk - bloody cheeky shit-strirer that I am at times).

Part of the reason for this is that I had heard two and a half of their songs on an mp.3 player - some little punk sprog I met at Flinders St. Station had bootlegged (it sounded like shite at the time I thought - that and I was cranky for getting fined by a public transport officer) - however after meeting with Greg and Mark and a few of the others from the crew, and had a fucking *blast* at their gig (at the Tote in old Melbourne town), I have nothing but great things to say about them; they are original, energetic, fun, unpretentious - all the things I tend to look for in a band.

Their Bass player is especially good - she has a very individual sound and is such the engine beast. As folks I met in a pub I can vouch that they are genuine, interesting and hardcore. Their cool attitude is reflected on their webby: there is a songbook with chords (and tab!) for all you aspiring guitar rats.

It goes without saying that I let 'em know that I love 'em. I'm hoping to make it to some more of their gigs when they get back from their current tour.

If anyone gets a chance to buy their cds or see them play - you'll not be dissapointed.

I got Co-op brewery about a week ago and have to say it's great. Unfortunately its only 8 songs but thats better than nothing I guess.
