I've often wondered if attracting new fans by annoying them actually works.

Working on creating animated banner ads to pollute other people's web sites with, eh?

No. Sorry Boss. It was just a joke. Sorry. Personally, I would never do that. And I think you know that. I think it's a bit tawdry.

I took it as a joke, and my reply was intended as one too. Guess I need to make more use of the smiley faces.

Sorry. I'm just depressed and sick, and I took your comment the wrong way. Mea maxima culpa. :)

You should smoke a bowl or eat a brownie or something. I heard that helps.

(I'm nothing if not an enabler. :) )

Cheers, Boss. Can't do that, but thanks for the advice. It's only been a week and a bit, and if I let myself off the hook that easily, I'll have nothing left. My depression at the moment is rooted in far more serious causes than my lack of head-food. Like the rate at which I've spent what little money we have - mainly on producing an album to try and kick-start my career, which some people see fit to pirate for their friends. :x Makes me sick. Literally. On top of an arse-kicking head-cold which seems intent on destroying my hearing in one ear, it's all just a bit much. Don't mind me.

On a happier not, at least the CD has resulted in a couple of gigs, but that does not an income make. I have to do some serious work before I can even THINK of going to Bardentreffen next year, let alone Festival Interceltique Lorient.

Whinge, whinge, moan, moan. :)

People are pirating your CD? Really? That sucks arse. I know this subject has been argued about in several other threads, but ... People need to realize that artists deserve compensation for their efforts. The argument that CDs are just advertising tools used to get people to attend performances is bullshit.

So - I'm sorry guy. Good luck with it. I hope that the people receiving pirated copies of your material end up somehow contacting your and actually giving you money units.

Sorry to hear that Fintan, the CD is excellent. With some marketing strategy those CDs should all be sold. And why the hell not get some "free advertising" among friends?

Hey thanks you folks. That, and a comment I just received up in town, has lifted my day somewhat. You're both very kind.
What most people won't realize - because I've not gone around trumpeting the fact - is that this project has been entirely self-funded by my share of the compensation money my wife and I received after her near-fatal pedestrian accident. The same accident that crippled my burgeoning music career six years ago; as I stayed home to help her recover and raise our daughter, instead of chasing gigs far and wide.
I'm not whinging, she's alive, she's recovered well and is back to studying again to complete her psych degree. But $10,000 dollars (only OzBucks, so that'd be about $30 USD no? ) and counting later, I thought maybe I might be able to start earning some money back on this beast. So to see someone blatantly rip my family and I off without even thinking or caring, really hacks me off. Here endeth the rant.
And again, thank you. :)
