Thanks for the comments, I will keep searching. For the time being, I can add only these two (full songs) – not original Pogues' compositions, of course, but these particular versions can hardly deny who were their biggest influence:

Irish Rover – County Hell
Gentleman Soldier – Paddy's Pig

... as well as anything by Her Pillow: here, here and here

Pair of Brown Eyes - Unknown

Post Sat Nov 20, 2004 12:03 am

In your first post, the version of A Pair of Brown Eyes is by a band called Shanneyganock from their album The Long Haul. They, like me, are from Newfoundland, Canada. Another great current band from there are The Navigators....http://www.thenavigators.com

Not associated with these bands, just giving a plug to the local talent.

Newfie!

I was recently at a bar in Toronto and Shanneygannock were playing....needless to say it turned it to a drunken night that was one to remember!......Also, I gotta say, the bars on George street rival many a pub in Dublin any day of the week.

A cover of A Rainy Night in Soho by the Dutch-Limburg-dialect-singing group the 'Janse Bagge Band':

http://www.jansebagge.nl/jbb/mp3/prakkezere.mp3

They also made there own versions of Fiesta and the Battle of Brisbane, but I can't find those right now.

I enjoyed her pillow very much (and the singer, what a voice !) but does the band still exist ?

Anyway, thanks for all these Downloadable cover versions of Pogues' songs !

It seems so – at their web they announce a gig on 7th December 2004. So if anybody happens to be in Rome on that day... :)

There are also some Pogues covers performed by Finnegan's Lads at http://www.nathenmaxwell.com/finneganmp3/,.. XA4 plays Accordeon for 'em, they're pretty good.

Graag gedaan hoor, lads :P
