Saw Bragg the other day. He said sum stuff about MacGowan onstage. He is quite good but it seems like he hasnt written a good song in over 10 years.

I have all of his albums currently released as well as the long deleted Peel Sessions LP, two bootlegs and the new boxset. If you go to his gigs you will se 95% of the stuff he plays is at least 10 yrs old.

Exactly. Most of the music I play is at least three centuries old by the time it gets through my brain... Billy is good. Good=good. Good=Billy.

But there's nothing wrong with that, is there? If you go and see an established band or artist live, then you may want to hear their new stuff, but you'd be disappointed if they didn't play the old favourites, wouldn't you?

I like Billy Bragg but I think my favourite of his stuff was the mermaid avenue albums he did with Wilco and the unused Woody Guthrie lyrics...then again I only have the help save the youth of america EP besides that.

So is the stuff that The Pogues do at their gigs, believe it or not.

Exactly. I wish The Pogues had songs that were as new as 10 years old.

Yes but bragg has still been releasing albums. In his current setlist the only song off any fairly recent album is England Half English and he sings it to the tune of John Barleycorn so that doesnt even count.

I don't know that much about Bragg and only have a couple of his CDs, but I thought he hadn't made much music in the last 10 years anyway?
