Something I just noticed. Is the music to Streets of Salvation the same as Loch Lomond?

Great band from Norway, had the pleasure to meet and see them play this summer in their home country
My lady and me were the only ones that new their songs.
We love them, let me hear your views
In heaven I met my Maker, I told Him a few jokes
we also sang some songs, He even liked The Pogues

thought I opened a new thread here, out of CYBER SPACE comes an old one

was pleased to read it anyhow

I myself think they are second only to the Pogues in their league, I mean in the league of basically acoustic bands playing Irish tunes with loads of energy
In with Tossers and Killigans, I'd say, though the latter are somewhat more electronic

And that's another leaugue, where to me Flogging Molly are champions, with young rivals from all over the globe: The Go Set (Australia), Mr Irish Bastard (Germany), The Neck (UK) and Circle J (Netherlands)

Funny though that Greenland Whalefishers all are native Norwegians, no Irish blood running in their veins whatsover!
Must be because they are from an Atlantic port (Bergen) ..

Or is it the reverse: is it the Viking blood in Irish veins that makes their music sound like the Greenland Whalefishers ??

here you find a picture of the gig I saw in June 2007: http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/742/whales6aw2.png

difference in line-up compared to Pogues: no banjo, no accordion, but a fiddle to add to the fun
In heaven I met my Maker, I told Him a few jokes
we also sang some songs, He even liked The Pogues

A friend of mine sent me a tape of Greenland Whalefishers a few years ago[thanks Ingrid]which i enjoyed a lot,how many albums have they made?Looking forward to their Brum gig.A band i would love to see live are The Modena City Ramblers, their cds are all excellent.I think one of the first Aussie bands to take up the punk-folk mantle, down under was the brilliant ROARING JACK,featuring Scots born Alistair Hulett, who sadly passed away in January this year.More recently i was sad to hear about Chris Sievey aka FRANK SIDEBOTTOM,who left us in June,RIP.
