Pissed at Springsteen ...

DO I have the right to be really pissed off at f@ckin Springsteen?!?! <DzM place under another thread if you see fit> I wanted more people to see and give some feedback here.

A week or so back he played here in Jersey and announces he's playing the last concerts EVER to be played in Giants Stadium as they're knocking the old girl down after the NY Giants season sometime in Feb.
Sooooo old Bruce announces to the crowd, even has the ushers hand out flyers with the 3 Stadium dates that go on sale yesterday morning. I scrape my pennies together and get in on line and land tickets <as most want to> for the coveted "FINAL NIGHT" October 2, 2009. He sells out three nights in less then 90 minutes in NJ, a normal occurance for the home crowd.
Here's the crap he pulls today, this bastard after promoting the final shows and selling out the tickets, puts out a press clip today he's going to add TWO MORE SHOWS AFTER THE NIGHT I ALREADY BOUGHT !!! Therefore rendering my "historic" tickets just another f@ckin night in Jersey with Bruce.
I am really, really pissed. It's not like I'm rolling in cash at $116+ a ticket after all the taxes and fees, I'm feeling extremely ripped off here. What do you think?

Your "historic" Giants Stadium ticket versus the chance for thousands more Springsteen fans to get to see him? Sorry pal, no contest.

Whoa, Mr Chevron of all I thought you'd understand after the promoting the dates and all.... On past tours he's set records by selling out 10 nights of the stadium and 15 nights at the arena. So my point is of course he could interject these dates anytime and still sell them out here in his hometown. Of course they're not just my tickets but all of the 80,000 or so that fought to get them for that night.

Yes, and as marketing strategies go, it appears to have worked very well for him. Associate himself directly with a blue-collar game AND build ticket demand to fever pitch.

I have a genuine raincheck stub from the "fight of the long count" in Philadephia. Now that's a collector's item!

So you were lucky enough to get tickets to see Springsteen on one of his last nights, and you are complaining?

Out west we say, "He'd complain if we hanged him with a new rope."

You've got tickets to see Brooce. That is reason for celebration, not for feeling pissed off in any way. And you'll have a great time when you get there.

Springsteen's marketing people have always been smart. I won't be seeing him on this tour because apart from festivals, one of which I couldn't get to and the other one of which I missed getting tickets for, there are no gigs in England. The Dublin gigs were overpriced, but that's another issue. But it keeps up demand, and next time (if there is a next time) he comes this way, I won't be missing it.

Each year when I buy tickets to see The Pogues there's the possibility that it might be the last time they play in that venue. I always actually hope it won't be. And if I were to miss it, I'm hoping I wouldn't begrudge those who do get there.

Ehh in Jersey you dont have to be lucky you just need a few dollars and the knowledge of how his ticket sales work. He plays so many shows local you cant not see him if you like. My real anger was toward the focus on 10/2 being the final concert at a venue that has meaning to me. Hell I'd love to have seen the last show at CBGBs or The Filmore too.

Maybe I came off wrong again, as usual, I'm not begrudging any fan, I'm pissed at the band. I posted this right after reading my emailed announcement of the plan to add shows. I've seen Bruce over 60 times in about 7 different states so it's not like I wouldn't have purchased the tickets anyway and won't have a good time. It was the history I was trying to combine with the show. Like you In the back of my mind I may think <pray not> it could be the last time I see the Pogues when I purchase a ticket also, but hell I'm just glad to be there since i've only seen them a handful of times. But they don't advertise a date as the last ever concert at say Wimbeldon (i'm choosing any venue and yes I'm stretching here) Would you be a tad upset if they billed a show as "the last ever concert at Wimbeldon" staring the Pogues. Then after it sells out 3 days later they say Oh sorry were going to add two more shows.

Whatever all, i'm just spouting off forget I mentioned it.

I don't think so, because I would be joyous that I was seeing The Pogues. And if I really, really wanted to be at the last show, I'd do anything I could to make sure I went to that one too.

Don't think The Pogues have ever played Wimbledon, by the way. Though now they've got the sliding roof there, it could be possible... :D

....thats my point, now i'd have to spend more cash (that I don't have) to see the final, final show.....or would he add another?
Wimbeldon is a stretch I know..... dont kill me here if your not a Man U fan (I can't keep track of everyones favs) but say you were and it was the last concert at Old Trafford before they tore it down? That's more of a comparison and of course the band was from the UK.

Hell I shoulda bought the Pougetry book from the guy on Ebay for $200. I would have been better off.

Well, I don't know, but I tend to reckon that's it's better to be pleased about the gigs I am getting to see rather than narked about the ones I'm not going to. Life seems better that way. Maybe that's just an age thing, eh?

I'm thoroughly taken with the idea that The Pogues might play Wimbledon, you know. It'd be a lot better than Cliff Richard. And now they've got the roof, hopefully it wouldn't be too damn cold.

Tearing Old Trafford down? Presumably to build GlazerVille Stadium plc? Now that I might go to see...

Do we have to play Wimbledon? We can't do that shiny new stadium in Milton Keynes?

(Sorry, Rich, obscure football gag)
