Of all the albums of 2006, it's probably the one I've played most.

Erie Canal would be my favorite. Love that song. Always get a real vivid picture of a poor old mule pulling a barge.

Not sure which is my favourite song on the album. Probably John Henry or O Mary Don't You Weep.

And on the extended version, How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times... which was another real highlight of the gig.

Born,raised & spent the first 28 years of my life in NJ before moving to NY in '89....always thought Bruce sucked & was way over rated.Granted,the occasional song made me tap my foot,but the overexposure & God-like adoration,I just never understood it...that's what makes the musical world go 'round!!

I guess it is, orrok61. I don't know about God-like adoration, but... well, I've never been to NJ. I guess my home-town songwriter would be Billy Bragg.

But with Bruce, well, I was blown away by Born to Run when it first came out. Thought Darkness on the Edge of Town was even better. Some of the 80s stuff was overblown, yes, and he had the unfortunate habit of making terrible videos (Courtney Cox...). And I've been through stages of life when I haven't listened for quite a while. But now again I've come back... and as a lyricist, Bruce seems to speak about so much experience of life and love and loss, and growing up and growing old and living in the world today. Despite the fact I've never been near NJ, so maybe there's a touch of the romantic in how I feel about it. And he's one of the good guys too.

i wholeheartedly agree

My favourite Springsteen albums are "Born in the USA", "We shall overcome" and "Nebraska". The others range from "okay" to "boring". I especially don´t like his efforts in the nineties.

Actually, speaking of Bruce's albums as a whole, Nebraska would be my favourite.

I remember playing if for the first time when it was released. It sounded so different from most of what he'd done before. Amazingly atmospheric, as you say.

Well, I´m planning to go back on stage some time this year and "Atlantic City" will be a definite part of the set. I´m even thinking of it as the opener.

No, unfortunately not. But I hope one of the gigs will be released as a live DVD soon.
