It turns out that no amount of chicken soup and TLC has been able to conquer doctor's orders and it is with great regret I have to pass on the information that Will has now had to pull out of our December dates in the UK and Ireland. The Pogues wish him a speedy recovery and our fondest regards.
New opening act(s) will be announced in due course.
Get well soon, Will.
Really sorry to hear this news, which is of course very disappointing for Will's fans in this part of the world.
But the most important thing is for him to recover his strength and health as soon as possible.
So yes, get well soon. Thoughts are with you.

That's a shame - probably one of the finest blokes / support acts to get me out of the the pub and into the venue early.
Get well soon, champ

Esther -- keep on passing on the good wishes for Wil. Hope everything turns out well for him, and I'll be enjoying seeing him on stage again soon.

Thanks again to you all, on Will's behalf. This is what he has to say on his website:
"William forced to pull out of UK/IRE Pogues dates. Due to a very bad respiratory infection, Will has been advised by his doctor that he needs to avoid travel and performing for several weeks so that he
can rest up and make a full recovery. As a result, Will unfortunately has had to pull out of these upcoming UK/IRE Pogues dates. Will deeply regrets this situation and realizes this is a great opportunity missed. He appreciates everyone's understanding while he focuses on getting better."

Esther,
Please pass on to Will the sincere concern of his loyal fans for his health, and our hope that he is back soon, doing what he loves, stomping that foot, growling that growl, and speaking his truth.

Thanks, Kathleen and DzM!
I was with Will at the family Christmas a week ago. He looked resplendent in his $5 thrift store suit. I am pleased to report that Will is well rested and in good health. I do know that Will is planning some shows early in the year, but that is all I know. Keep an eye on his website for announcements:

Glad to hear that he is better and hopefully he'll make it down river to STL for a show soon. This might be old news here but I thought I'd post it anyways so forgive me is this is redundant... an episode of Later with Jools Holland aired last night here in the states that had William on it. I did not catch it but searched that it will be shown again on Tuesday 01/12/2010 in the wee hours of the morning of 4am (central standard time). My dvr is already set so as not to miss it again.

Okay, all you San Francisco people:
Will has scheduled one show for this Thursday, January 21, at the Riptide. I found details here:
http://www.bandsintown.com/event/331813 ... ry-21-2010He is not on tour, just a visit to SF, so this is an opportunity not to be missed.
I saw him perform Saturday night and it was an amazingly good show.
