While I'm not that much of a honky tonk fan myself, I always have had fun at a Red Meat show. I haven't had the pleasure in a long while.

I read somewhere that The Hacienda Brothers had to cancel due to someone's wrist injury, hence Will as opener.

I guess you'll have to come to the Midwest to see WEW in a full show.

The conclusion about Big Smith and The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I came to was that we enjoyed the show, but would not be making a mad rush to the merchandise table to get their CDs.

Actually come to the flyover states? Hmmm. I don't think I've actually been to the Mid-West since 1999. I'm probably due. And just a few days ago I was having a conference call with a company in Normal-Champagne IL. Maybe I could abuse that relationship to make it out for a show or two? :)

If you can make it to the Midwest to see Will, it's *definitely* worth it. I saw him opening in Detroit and Columbus before seeing him at Dubuquefest in May ... and it was absolutely worth the 588 mile trip.

Will sometimes headlines in Chicago and Iowa City. I'll be sure to point out those opportunities to you, should any arise.

calgary folkfest

Post Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:23 am

I just found this sight and it seems like there's some regulars on it that might care to know that William elliot whitmore was adored at the calgary folkfest, He played some killer workshops and had one of the larger crowds at his concert. (to bad he didn't pack any merch). I haven't had a chance to see him live since he opened for clutch in edmonton last year, there were some great great acts in the line up for the festival but I gotta admit, he was the number one draw for me. so in love with his music. he has such a genuine quality about him, endearing and ridiculously polite.

So question: how do I access canadian tour dates? I can't find any. in fact I can't find much of anything for tour dates whether in canada or not.

Great to hear, twiggy!!

Tour dates can be found here: http://www.southern.com/southern/tour/WILEW though not all dates seem to get posted. As I become aware of others, I try to post them here. A fall tour is in the works, but I don't think Canada is in the picture.

Will's personal website is under construction, and has been for quite some time. I'm not sure why the delay. I understand that merchandise will be made available through that spot. Meanwhile, recordings at least can be purchased from Amazon.

WooHoo! Another SF date! I'll get my stalking shoes all shined up.

And I can't help but notice that the dates end on Oct. 9. Hmm. Could it be that's to provide time for WEW to get to Seattle and join our other favorite band for a couple of weeks? Hmmmmmmm.

(Well I certainly hope so.)

New tour dates are great indeed! A good friend of mines band is opening up for them here is St. Louis! I hope that William is headlining the show for once. I'd sure like to see more than 30 minutes of material at a time.

Hey, Lammyts1, how was the show? My daughter attended the first show of this tour on Saturday night in Chicago and said it "was so great!" He headlined and played for about an hour and a half. Somewhere I read that he and Tim Barry are alternating the headliner spot, but I don't know that to be sure. Will was scarce in these parts this summer, busy with recording and performances, so I never got the real story from him.

The show was excellent!!!!! (as usual) :D William headlined the show and played for about an hour and thirty minutes. It was great. Tim Barry, Josh Small and Strawfoot were also great. Apart from the first time I saw him, I can't think of a better W.E.W. show. The whole show wasn't over until about 1am. If you haven't seen him on this tour yet then you are in for a treat if you'll be lucky enough to catch them. It would have been well worth a long drive too. William was also selling a new t-shirt and tour poster.
