DzM, it will please you to know that word is that Will has a tour in the works for the fall that may indeed include San Francisco.

It will be a real treat if Will gets up as far as Seattle or Vancouver, BC on this upcoming tour. I'll be dragging at least half a dozen new converts with me to the show(s).

Well, sir, thanks for the effort. However, in order for us to view the photos, I'm afraid we need your password as "This album is private." Thanks anyhow!!

Okay, DzM, get yer stalking shoes on, as Will has just informed me that he will be in San Francisco on July 21st as opener for Red Meat's CD release show at the Great American Music Hall. From Red Meat's website (http://www.redmeat.net/):

This is it, folks! Red Meat's gala CD RELEASE PARTY, celebrating our first album in five years! This one is entitled "We Never Close", and it was once again produced by the magnificent Dave Alvin. Come on by the show and pick up a copy! And check out who else is on the bill: our cousins from Springfield, MO, Big Smith! Opening the evening is Montrose, Iowa's favorite son William Elliott Whitmore. It's a Red Meat Midwestern family reunion, all hosted by San Francisco's legendary disc jockey, M. Dung. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!

Three members of Red Meat are transplanted southeast Iowans. Frontman Smelley Kelley is an old family friend. The band plays "high cholesterol honky tonk" tunes and is truly not to be missed.

Stinkin' photobucket. You a password on for an hour and then take it off months back and it still thinks it's there. :x Let's try this again on a different site...

Yupperdo. The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I have dinner tickets booked and waiting at Will Call.

Sadly I'm having trouble getting information about whether Great American Music Hall will be grumpy about cameras though.

Stick around for Red Meat

Post Fri Jul 20, 2007 6:47 pm

This sounds great! I don't think I can make the 2-hour drive, but if I could I'd make sure to stay for the whole show. I saw Red Meat last year, opening-for and then backing-up the legend Miss Wanda Jackson. They are a serious good time. Wanda was flirting like crazy with their guitar-plyer, and she kept calling them "Fresh Meat." Enjoy!

We fully intent to. SF is about 1.5 hours from here, and The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I often feel a bit goofy about driving for a total of three hours to see a forty-five minute WEW set only to take off once the main act is on. This time the rest of the show looks really interesting too, so we're planning to make a full night of it.

William always puts on a really enjoyable show. I remain bitter that his portion of the overall evening is always so short though. This time he had a half hour. He deserves double (or more) that time.

Big Smith and Red Meat were a little more honkey-tonk than I prefer (with Red Meat favoring the Grand Ol' Opry side of things). Still, The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I had a really nice time. We had a date. Dinner and a show. Got home past 3:00am and felt like giddy kids.

Also - William seems now to be recognizing me (well ... sort of ... "Oh, hey! Yeah, hey! Hey, it's good to see you back here again. I love San Francisco. Just love this city. Yeah."). I think that's probably a sign I should stop stalking so enthusiastically (My mom asked if we were doing anything with the weekend. When I told her we were off to see WEW she said "Wow. You must really like him a lot. You're always heading out to see him." is four times in 1.25 years really so excessive? Is this not what the kids do?).

Strangely the posters for the event had somebody else opening. "The Hacienda Brothers." I considered getting a Sharpie and asking WEW to scratch out their name, write his own in, and sign it. Decided against this though. It seemed far too stalkerish.
