all amazing...been listening to them a lot more recently and i saw john cale play last weekend. it was a bit disapointing though, but most of that was probably just the venue. they had tables in the front where people were eating their god damned dinner and everyone standing was at the back.

Im also a big Velvets fan..my personal fav. is the upstairs at Max's Kansas City OFFICIAL bootleg. did you know that Debbie Harry was a waitress at Max's during that show and that Mo Tucker ws eight months pregnant so she couldnt play the drums so they had gotten Billy Yule (Dougs brother0 to fill in for her BUT he was a rock drummer and wasnt used to the Velvets sound (besides only practicing with them once before they played the shows) so thats why there is fill after fill after fill on that album (I think its works out for the best though it speeds up the tempo,listen on New Age to see how that " rock" drumming "fill and bridge" adds to the emotion build-up of that song amazing).. admittingly at the end of the few shows played was when Lou quit the band on stage and I would have liked to hear that (for posterity sake only erhrmm..cough,cough)..I could go on and on....

John Cale is good but a little stiff,an acquired tatse,songs for Drella with Lou ( the video footage) is really interesting stuff you can tell the animosity is still there..... Moe's version of Heroin is still the best (off her solo records)... and as far as Lou's solo stuff Live Take No Prisoners wins hands down in my book....

love the velvet underground, so much great music they made. Lou reeds "Berlin" as well.

I keep seeing Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson at the theatre. They were at the opening night of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman on Broadway last spring and less than one week later, at Henry IV Part I at the Olivier in London, there they were again.

That's a sign of something! I heard Lou Reed was incredibly rude but that may be just hearsay.
