Lucky man. I'm looking forward to seeing him later this year. I've been looking forward to it for years...

Christy is the only person I know who can get a crowd rocking on his own or with just one other musician playing with him, he's so brilliant. 8)

I'd also nominate John Martyn as being able to do a good job of raising the roof on his own.

Yep, John Martyn can do it. Brilliant live performer. Stupidly missed him last week.

I really like The Time Has Come. Nice combination of traditional material and modern folk songs. If you are into trad stuff, check anything from Christy's era with Planxty as well!

Live At The Point is a masterwork. And it's got FTONY on it.

I like Voyage as well, though it took me a few listens to get into it.

My favourites are Unfinished Revolution, Voyage and, for something really different, Traveller.

I'm all over two recent ones, Burning Times and Graffiti Tongue . BT is all covers, produced by Declan Sinnot, whereas GT is almost all written by Christie & produced by him too. Both are lovely & sparse & atmospheric... in short, i realize as i write these words, totally different from the two albums you mentioned. Planxty albums (and they're all good, says I), may be the way to go. Live at the Point is a great one too, only an asshole couldn't love that album.
