Christy Moore

FROM MORRISSEY SOLO.COM WEBSITE I FOUND THE FOLLOWING :

Veteran Irish folk singer Christy Moore has recorded a version of the Moz track 'America Is Not The World' and re-named it 'America I Love You'. It features on Moore's new album 'Burning Times' which is now available. Moore first covered the track last year while on tour. His new album also feaures versions of Natalie Merchant's 'Motherland' and Bob Dylan's 'Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll, so it could be well worth checking out. Moore was also in attendance when Moz played the final date of his world tour in Dublin last December.

When the world sees another American
It flings comments fully disparaging
But our domination
Of their conversation
Is an irony I find encouraging

Burning Times is a fine album, Christy's takes on Motherland (Natalie Merchant) and Changes (Phil Ochs) are absolutley fantastic. Lots of gems, Peace In The Valley Once Again is a personal favourite. Hattie Carroll isn't too shabby either, different.

Well worth buying..

Seen Christy & Declan at The Point last night, amazing atmosphere, usual banter & great song after great song. Never thought anybody could silence the Point.

His last big gig apparently, a night to remember.

Sorry, I was talking about here in Ireland, I think he's sticking to the smaller gigs from now on. What does the Barbican hold anyway, 2000 or so?

EDIT: Actually, he's playing the Waterfront 4 or 5 times in March.

Basically, he won't be back in the Point.

I HAVE the CD, I didnt't buy the DVD because it didn't have Faithful Departed on it. I hope I didn't make any mistakes in 2 and 3 letter words now
