Tossers, Portland Me, Sept 17

Post Sat Aug 18, 2007 3:02 am

So judging by the concert reviews, a trip from Halifax, NS, Canada to Portland ME might be in order, to see the Tossers?

9 hours each way, that's like a fucking day trip!

just saw them at the Saranac Brewery with Dropkick Murphys in Utica, NY on the 11th...then after the show all the band was at the merchandise tent meeting everyone. I met the singer and other members
the lead singer was pounding utica club cans of beer during the show
then he came out with murphys to do "wild rover"
great band

no supporting act listed for Portland yet, that I've seen. It'd be like The Pogues Orphium '07 again. Crappy opening band.

God damn show in Philly is at the Kybher, 21+. I doubt I'll get as lucky as I did with the Pogues 21+ show, I guess I'll just have to wait until they make the rounds again.

I'll be seeing them on Wednesday in Providence. I'm working from home on Thursday, so'll i should get time to send a full report. Like USC coach football coach's mantra, "I'm pumped and jacked" to finally see these lads (& las).
I'm working on getting my friends entire wedding party to the show. The bunch of drunks might scare the band.

Great show last night in Providence. I arrived late because of work and was surprised to see such a sparse audience. Thumbs up to the folks that did show up. The venue was awesomely disgusting. Everyone appreciated these guys playing for a solid 2 hours after performing virtually every night for about 7 straight years. They looked tired and haggled but they rocked the fuck out of the place. Tony fielded requests from the crowd for the last hour of the show. Black Velvet Band, Dirty Old Town, Streams of Whiskey, Faraway, Drinkin in the Day, Monday Morning, Maidrin Rua/Tell Me Ma, No Loot No Booze No Fun, Campdown Races, et. al.

Tony hung out and played a bunch of stuff on the mandolin after the show. What a fucking treat. Broad Majestic Shannon & Late, amongst others.

Thanks to the Tossers.
If you're milling around Boston tonight with nothing to do, you must hit Harper's Ferry to see these guys. You'll fucking love the show and they deserve a decent crowd.
