Sure. Great stuff - and not only the pub songs. ;) The Clancys are somewhere at the top of my favourite Irish trad list together with the Dubliners.

Lots of people don't like the Clancys & TM, for two reasons. Either they need something loud and modern sounding like Seven Dropkick Molly; or they're elitist snobs who like only "purist" stuff like Planxty et al (whereas the Clancys and TM sang the songs of the common working class).

I think they're tremendous, and their impact on Shane is obvious.

Seen Liam Clancy in concert a couple of months back, still going strong. He's playing the Legends of Irish Folk gigs in Vicar St after Christmas along with Ronnie Drew, Paddy Reilly, Finbar Furey and more.. Well worth checking out for anyone in Dublin over Christmas time. 8)

That I haven't seen mentioned.. Horslips, The Radiators, Moving Hearts, Damien Dempsey, The Frames.. sure I've left someone out.

Van the Man, Saw Doctors

Get "Luke's Legacy". It's a "best of Luke Kelly" as in the Dubliners.
It has many good trad songs as well as "Springhill Mine Disaster", "Joe Hill" and "Peatbog Soldiers" -- A very haunting CD to say the least.
