add to that upcoming gigs by Dutch Paddy-bands Circle J and Boys from the County Hell, as well as German Paddy-band Mr Irish Bastard, and the likelyhood that The Mahones will cross the great Atlantic again this year ... prospects for 2008 are not bad at all.

Especially not with a new FM cd on it's way.

Incidentally, the new Black 47 cd will be launched the very same day.

Both to be followed shortly by the Pogues Box.

If FM really loved their fans they would play across the country and not make us tavel to pissing London. And don't get me started on booking and transaction fees.

FM play lots of shows in teh US. And I don't know why this is under Shared Glory.

They are playing in Glasgow and Manchester too - where do you want them to play your local pub?

Just listened to the new FM album, got to say im dissapointed. Im a massive FM fan and I've seen them on every UK tour they've done but the new ablum just seems lacking, maybe i need to listen to it more

Why am I not surprised, their last two albums (Drunken Lullabies and Within A Mile Home) were very disappointing, one pensive song after another.

I thought Drunken Lullabies was superb.

Seen them last night & it was a GREAT show!! (as always) if you get a chance to see them, go. Also the opening band Rev. Peyton & The Big Damn Band were very good...never heard of them before but will look into them.

they played Turkish Song of the Damned, but no mention was made of the Pogues,

I somehow have had the opportunity and pleasure to listen to the new FM cd quite a bit,
and I like it a lot

to those who take Pogues as measuring rod for anything done since,
I suggest to take later bands for what they are

judge them by what they contribute to extend the wealth of Paddymusic,
rather than by how far they differ from (or fall short of) what Pogues did two decades ago

the latter appears to me to be a conservative and dead-end interpretation
of a truly alive & kicking & developing type of music

and, incidently, much resembles the purists' rejection of what the Pogues contributed

Can’t agree more, Paddy! I believe Flogging Molly, though surely strongly inspired by the Pogues, have taken "Paddy music" a step further, created their own style within the genre. Constantly comparing them to the Pogues and reproaching them for not expressing enough gratefulness to the Pogues seems like comparing current pop/rock bands to the Beatles and reproaching them for not paying constant homage to the Liverpool Four.
In my opinion, they play very enjoyable music, easily recognizable and distinct from other "Paddy bands". But tastes differ, of course!

I've known these guys since I was a kid (I first met Matt Hensley 15 years ago), and they've always expressed, at least to me, a big debt to the Pogues.

I've seen them perform live more than 20 times, and over those shows, I've heard them play at least 3 different Pogues songs (Dirty Old Town, The Auld Triangle, and I want to say Bottle of Smoke).

Also, Matt used Sunny Side of the Street as the song backing his part in the Black Label Skateboards Label Kills video.

I agree! I always talk to the guys at gigs cause I probably was one of their first fans on this side of the pond and whenever I say I am going to see the Pogues they are always jealous and say they'd like to come.

Dave King and Bridget were at the Dublin 2006 gig by the way

Ow and I don't like the new Float albu. 40 minutes of which 30 minutes are brandnew is not impressive to me
