The Larkin Brigade -- Boston's finest rag 'n' reel

Post Tue Mar 07, 2006 7:20 pm

I could go on and on telling you about how great the Larkin Brigade is, but you might as well hear for yourself. Listen to an MP3 of "Mission Hill," the sure-fire hit single from the upcoming album, at http://www.myspace.com/thelarkinbrigade

Imagine Blood for Blood as a Cape Breton-style piano- and fiddle-driven Irish rock 'n' roll band (with no guitar), and you have some idea of what you're in for.

Not too bad actually, although obviously still prefer The Pogues by a mile.

they are pretty good
although I think they need more electric guitars to be considered punk rock :?

Ahhh, we don't need nothin' to be punk rock.

Wow, that is some approximation of a wink.

Anyways -- Bostonians, take note: we're spinning the album in its entirety at Flann O'Brien's in Mission Hill next Wednesday, April 12, around 9 p.m. Free appetizers.

I slipped into Kennedy's after the second Pogues show in Boston (which I could not attend......deep breaths) to have a drink and stayed for a few of their numbers. The acoustics in the place were awful if not non-existent, but the opinion I formed was that this band was probably one of the most able bands when it came to...well, playing that type of music without a six-string plugged into something. I didn't care much for the tunes -a little too unrelenting for me- but I commend them on their instrumentational manipulation. I would recommend seeing them if they're playing around the city.

Larkin Brigade music video

Post Mon Nov 06, 2006 6:55 pm

Sorry about the possibly confusing post earlier.

This is the new music video for our song "We're All Wicked Liquored Up at the Upscale Downtown Irish Pub."

http://www.ketchabrick.com/html/index_frame.html

It's also viewable on youtube, but the above is better quality.
